Will get some leeway on that in the NET, I believe it factors in missing key players.

Regardless, was a terrible performance.  Lucky to get out of there with a win.  Just shows you how important Posh is, he wouldn't have let the game go down like that.  Wusu had some moments but was very careless with the ball and had some costly turnovers and killed momentum.

Of course they did.  St Johns players are watching all the other big east teams play in big time games this week and they are playing in a half empty arena vs st francis.  Its pathetic and can NEVER happen again.

Just be happy it wasn't Hofstra or Iona out there.  The soft schedule isn't soft if the team plays like crap.  This was a tough watch.

Surprised that Champy shot 10 / 20 from the floor.

Clearly you missed the posts from some of our crack fans who claim that this is part of some sort of master plan by CMA to get the team ready for conference play. We've learned nothing positive about this team the last 2 games. Players who we hoped would be nice contributors(Stanley, Coburn, Wheeler, and Soriano) showed very little tonight against a low level team. I didn't watch the last game but sounded about the same.  Not good.

I did not see past two games, realize that CMA's defense takes time to be effective. But still against poor competition, probably overacted our some of our new players. Big question for me is Soriano, another big stiff, his stats are pathetic.

Which worse 50 per from the line or getting killed on the boards.  Second chance points?

The one thing I learned from this game is that whatever happened to posh better not last long. We are lost at the point without him.

I expected a learning curve with all these new players coming together but this was as cupcake a local cupcake gets. I get what Duke was saying in his previous post but these are big boys, they should know the task at hand. Not seeing a guy like Soriano dominate a team like this scares me too.

Sj John's for decades seems to almost always play at the level of the opposition. That's why it is a bad idea to
give away points when we are big favorites.  Tonight's fame is  quite typical of the outcome spread when we give significant points.
a more controversial point I'll offer on leadership:
The college game relies so much on the point guard so Posh' absence is a big excuse for our performance. But it doesn't account for our inability to establish dominance, take a big lead, and then maintain superiority.  Aside from Posh, this team lacks leadership on the floor. It lacked it last year and this year when he was out or had a bad game
. Posh controls the flow and that helps a lot when he plays. But the leadership characteristics I am talking about aren't even technical skills. I'm looking for the ability to elevate performance both by example and exhortation. We need a leadership that holds those on the floor accountable to bring their intensity, minimal unforced turnover from focused concentration.
Such intangible leadership can be done diplomatically or demonstrably.  This is why I don't put Champagne in the same category as some other SJU great scorers. He may as good a basketball player but unlike many others, he is not an uplifting leader...not a proxy for the Coach when on the floor.  He is a great point maker.  He sets a high standard for himself. In that sense he is tops in the stat sheet, but in my mind when Posh is out, we show a lack of floor leadership.
It's early in the year and it may emerge beyond Posh's contribution...perhaps a Pinzon will evolve for future years.

Soriano is a 10 MPG guy on a good team. We have no one else down low but him. So we need more from him then he's probably capable of giving us. Stanley and Wheeler have given us next to nothing down low. Nyiwe is, well, a non factor. Champ is going to play away from the basket most of the time. We're in deep trouble up front IMO, and Im not sure how we remedy that.
