I'm hoping we keep it competitive. I want us to continue to be a tough out on our homecourt(s). So far, we have been doing that.

That being said, Seton Hall might be the nation's best team right now. At least, they appear to have less weaknesses then everybody else. Powell has become what we all were hoping Ponds could be last year. He's become close to a true PG, without having it affect his scoring numbers. With Ponds last year, it was usually one, at expense of the other.

Anything can happen, though. Two years ago, we had lost 11 straight, with games against the #4-ranked team, and #1-ranked team, up next. We all know how those two games turned out.

From the games Ive seen, Powell doesnt play any point guard. I want to say the kid mcknight is the pg.

McKnight brings it up most of the time.

Powell, however, has become a much better passer then in the past, yet is still putting up his usual scoring numbers. That's a balance that Ponds never really achieved last season. That's all I was going for.

I agree. This team looks terrible on the road but at the garden its like a switch goes off. I think it happens again Saturday.

I long for the day we play meaningful games like these at MSG #20 St. John's vs. #18 Seton Hall or #20 St. John's vs. #18 UConn. And then win them. That's what it would take to wake fans from their hibernation for the better part of 20 years. We lost an entire generation of fans because of the last 20 yrs and how poor the results were. The last time we got a ranked win that actually mattered in the season was what, 2011? Since then we have won our share against ranked teams, but we start so poorly it doesn't matter.

I expect a blowout here because it's such a mismatch. Powell will be hitting wide open 3's and the second we go after him, he gets it down low to Gill who is about a half foot taller and longer than anyone we have out there. We are playing with no big. Also, please no Caraher. He's a nice kid but way too slow at this level and cannot get open because of it. If he were getting catch and shoot 3's with no one around him and plenty of time, he'd contribute. But he can rarely get off a clean shot without someone in his face.

Agree about Caraher. I think Roberts will get big minutes this game. He hasnt been playing much recently but I think he will be needed against gill.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Sears get some minutes, too. I know he's undersized, but he can be physical, and maybe that can throw Gil off a bit.

Makes no sense. Did he look good the few minutes he's played? No...but everyone sucks right now anyway, why is he any different? Especially knowing the season is going down the tubes already, you might as well let him get big minutes and see what you have. We have nothing to lose anymore.
