Kudos to Shamorie ponds.

There was no chance he was coming back but man I imagine what this team could be with him and Simon here. I’m talking top 15 team in the country. But that’s life as a St. John’s fan. What if what if what if....

Except every team in the country can say the same thing .

Surely there is someone telling him that if this continues his chance of playing pro ball will vanish. I realize it is remote but usually players believe they are better than they are...and do what it takes to improve.
And Heron... I thought he was a pretty poised player but he either panicked or had a mindset that was determined to be the hero and hit the 3. I just don't understand how these two have done so little this year to enhance their own position.

I've heard coach preach the never stop shooting credo many times. These guys are taking it too seriously except we have no half court game so what the hey.

I agree. But starting the duke over roberts makes us extremely small. I think Earlington will not be moved into the starting lineup until next year when heron is gone.

Williams played fantastic in the 1st half last night and miserable in the 2nd half. He needs to be more consistant. We have the most bipolar players ive ever seen.

The game wasn't even really that close despite the score. Anyone watching knew PC was clearly the better team and it wasn't that close. The only reason we made it respectable was because we force so many TO's. They manhandled us rebounding especially offensive. That's because Roberts is benched now and Steere never plays. We literally have 0 big men on the court. If you don't have big men you need to be a great 3 point shooting team. We have 0 shooters. LJ and Heron are not shooters. Remember Wragge from Creighton? He made open 3's and 3's with hands in his face. He was a 3 pt machine. Why can't we ever get those or bigs?

If Posh Alexander is the best we can do recruiting wise, we are in big trouble. He's a good player but he's like 5'9 (they exaggerate height in listings) and cannot shoot based on his stats. Where are all these other programs finding pure shooters? Where are all these other programs finding 7 footers? We have guys who are tiny and cannot shoot. That's a recipe for disaster. Seton Hall must be looking ahead after us. No Roberts, no Steere...and we will face like 3 guys who are around 7 ft+. Can't wait!

Just not enough skills to translate. Providence has underperformed, but they have talent there and may were pretty highly recruited there.

Still not sold on Providence. The conference gave them what turned out to be a gift early schedule. I think we'll beat them at CA next month. Providence could very well be 4-7 going into that game.

Yes and annihilate us like they should've done last night - without 2 rotation players

Is posh going to win the job over mcgriff?
Can posh's teammate whos coming in with him consistantly hit 3s?
Is the 6'10 JUCO monster coming in going to be the size we need?

Im going to wait and see before i start burying St johns for next year already.

The combination of being a very bad shooting team and the balance in the big east conference makes it extremely hard for SJU to win a game. Their pressure defense keeps them in games but when the game gets to the final five minutes they can't buy a basket. I would estimate they shoot about ten per cent from the floor in those final minutes if you eliminate the cup, cake games.
There is no player on the roster who you have any confidence in taking a crucial shot. The lacrosse player is probably the best shooter on the team.
Since almost all of their remaining games will probably be close with a few minutes remaining I don't see more than a couple of more wins.

While I appreciate your man crush for the Duke, and I understand your unconditional love of trolling this board, you need to stop drinking or smoking or whatever it is you are doing during our games. Earlington is no where near our best option at any point in any game.

And while he does do a lot of the dirty work on the offensive end, where the hell was he on the defensive end when Providence was getting 15 offensive boards (Which essentially cost us the game)?

When we needed a bucket down the stretch, I remember the duke driving past his guy and getting a nice and 1. Then again when we needed a big bucket, he buried a nice jumper in the corner.

Im not sure why you are after me because i like earlington but last night, he was the ONLY guy making big buckets we we needed them.

Because when you say things like "Its gotten to the point that our best option in crunch time is earlington.", it just makes you look and sound silly. There is no way any rational person with any basketball sense could possibly believe that Earlington is our best option in crunch time.

St John's wasted an opportunity to steal a road win. Providence was shorthanded with Emmitt Holt and AJ Reeves both sidelined. The Friars shot 35.6%, played badly, and were beatable. St John's still couldn't take the advantage and win.

I'm having trouble seeing another winnable BE game. Unless Heron and LJ start playing better.

The Johnnies are working hard and I appreciate the effort. Something has to change to salvage the season.

Providence finished 21-59 (35.6%) from the field, 4-17 (23.5%) from three, and 17-24 (70.8%) from the free throw line. St. John's finished 22-58 (37.9%) from the field, 6-22 (27.3%) from three, and 8-13 (61.5%) from the free throw line. LJ Figueroa led the way for St. John's with 12 points and nine rebounds.

We have some nice players and we have some nice players coming in next season. The bottom line is there isn't anyone coming in who can change the course of this moribund program. We're grossly in over our heads in the Big East.
Proof positive...when it came down to ten seconds left...one of the worst three point shooting teams in America ended up with a wild three point attempt. I doubt coach called for that play...but it typically was what it was.
Whine all you want...the reality is, there's no way in the foreseeable future, this team will be able to compete, not only with the blue bloods...but with most of the mediocrities that make up the conference.
