Knowing he has to get in “game shape” and is also just really beginning his college, career. I would be happy with 8-10 points/game and 5-6 rebounds/game.

More importantly, I think adding some physicality to front line, providing hard screens to enable our scorers to penetrate & score and lastly defending v beefy BE bigs are big ticket items.

Initially I am hoping for someone that can keep players for scoring at will inside when Roberts is on the bench and provide some offense when our shooting goes cold.

Per Zach: Mike Anderson said Ian Steere is a work in progress. Conditioning will be key once he’s eligible. Thinks he can provide some scoring punch #sjubb

Extremely doubtful he averages 8-10 points and 5-6 rebounds.

I get that getting someone into an actual game at game speed is different then practice. That will take some time especially for big guys.

Not sure what is meant by “conditioning” as it applies to Steere. My understanding was that he has been practicing with the team since last year. My guess is he is in great physical condition. Not sure I understand what he means.

Sorry if it's been mentioned elsewhere, but when is he eligible? I recall reading the "earliest" he could play is the Albany game, but haven't seen anything recently.

If Steere has conditioning issues that would be disappointing. However it may also be Coach trying to alleviate expectations on a kid who has not really played college basketball. Even if Steere is in shape it's hard to simulate a real game environment and he'll most likely need time to get his sea legs. Better to keep our expectations low than have keyboard know-it-alls (absolutely, 100% including myself here) rip him apart because we now expect everyone to hit the ground running like Champagnie has.

I have no idea what his ceiling/floor might be, but I am waiting to see who sits and what the rotations will look like, He looked to be an essential piece when the season started but the unexpected development of several players makes this more intriguing.
