I agree. Best thing he could do is get out of Philadelphia.

It seems like a million years ago, but I think that was was part of the reason he chose St Johns. It was a chance to get away from home but sadly, it seems NYC wasn't far enough away. I recall him going back there for days at a time during the season, missing game(s), getting suspended, etc. I think there were stories about his mom being ill at the time, but based on how things played out that likely wasn't the only reason he kept going home.

I sincerely hope he gets his life turned around but in hindsight, he'd have been far better off going to UCLA or some other program where he couldn't drive home whenever he felt like it.

He is scary talented, one of the saddest stories we’ve had, but just imagine if it could be turned around with our help.

You serious?
Please tell me you aren't.

You don’t believe in second chances?

For someone who attempted to murder someone getting a 2nd chance on a college basketball team?????????
Lets get real.

I don’t believe he was actually convicted on attempted murder. And we need a point guard.
Hey, my bar is lower than yours, what can I say.

Your bar is quite a bit lower that's for sure. I have nothing against second chances in life. But putting someone who attempted murder on someone back onto a college basketball team ranks up there as a pretty ludicrous take. Because we need a point guard.............

That being said I just looked and saw nothing online about whether or not he was convicted or not. I do know he served 3 years in prison. No mentions of how his trial turned out. Got a feeling if he was innocent a bigger story would be out there being he served 3 years.

Good luck turning his life around. Thankfully he exhausted his eligibility by turning pro because I definitely wouldn't want to hear any more chatter about him going back to college hoops.

I can't find anything either. But I thought when the incident initially happened, he was facing much longer than 3 years in jail. Wonder what happened.

Seems that his trial was postponed a bunch of times due to changes in his legal representation. Maybe they cut a deal since he appears to have missed out on his right to a speedy trial.

I know this is a long shot but I would hope he try and get his degree. I know he’s a felon but at least it would give him a sense of accomplishment. I was just reading about NYU prison to degree program and those redemption stories are great to read.

During his time at SJU, his aunt was murdered, his best friend was murdered, his mother fell ill and Rysheed, as the oldest of something like 7 or 8 kids, had to play the father role, since there was no father In the picture. And all of this happened when was 19, 20 years old.

Did he screw up in a big way? Yes. Has he paid a big price? Yes.

He deserves a second chance and I hope he gets it.

He already has, he is now a free man and what happens with the rest of his life is up to him; just like it was before.

Lifes a bitch sometimes, but that's no excuse for attempted murder.
He's a felon, so what kind of job is he going to get? $10hr?

He had the talent, went to a B.E. school, he should have stayed in Queens, played every damn game, got better every game, maybe get drafted. Get those funds rolling in, buy a house and get the hell away from THUG LIFE.

It's a real shame that he choose "THUG LIFE" over a "LEGIT LIFE", but oh well, it was his choice.
Now he gotta deal with the consequences of being a felon.

He still HAS talent. He’ll need to work real hard to hone that talent enough to earn a living playing ball, but that’s his best shot at getting out of Philly and of making a nice career for himself. . It’s all on him at this point, he’s not a kid anymore. We’ll soon find out how badly he wants it.

I'd think it would be a very hard sell for an overseas team to give him a shot.
