Utah State transfer Koby McEwen had a coming-out party for @MarquetteMBB - 23 points, 6-of-12 FG, 5 rebounds, 4 assists. Plus, his defense was rock solid. The way he and Markus Howard can play off each other gives Marquette a new dimension.

Yeah, he also didn’t shy away from the big shot in that game. Played more under control than Howard did, who seemed like he was forcing everything. Really good pickup by Marquette.

3 point parade to start. Score was 17-2 before you could settle in. Down 30 with about 8 to go. All Buckeyes tonight. Not a good look for BE in this one.

Think about Novas last 3 B10 games, Michigan at home last year in Gavitt Games as a NC rematch, Purdue in the NCAAs in March and now Ohio St. And they were completely outclassed in all 3. I mean totally non-competitive in any of them. Hard to believe.

They'll light it up against us.

In fairness, both Nova and Providence tend to improve as the season goes along. That is a direct correlation to the coaching. Jay Wright and Ed Cooley do a great job figuring things out and making it work. I am hoping that we have someone similar in Coach Anderson.

Well, not a good night since we were expected to go 2-1 and instead went 1-2. However, this year overall the league is still doing great. 4-3 vs the Power teams and undefeated vs the cupcakes (I don't believe any other conference can say that).

The contrast of halves in the Marquette vs Purdue contest was amazing.
Down by 18, and looking totally outclassed, Marquette came back in second half, even though Howard was reasonably contained. Hopefully, Georgetown and Seton Hall prevail. (Seems very strange pulling for either)

I'm expecting Powell to play, and it looks like a lot in Vegas are too.

I don't expect Hall to win tonight, but am glad Powell's injury isn't serious as initially thought (or at least, what Willard led us to believe). That Stony Brook second half could also be a blessing in developing the rest of the team. Should be a good one tonight!

Sounds like Powell is a game time decision. The way they described it yesterday he was still sore and didn’t practice full. Either way sounds like he will be less than 100%. Not sure I would risk re-injury because if he hurts it worse it could really linger. Really early in the season. Not our worry but should be a good early season matchup.

Very true, but I have to say there wasn’t much to like about Nova at all last night. Not even sure they should be ranked after that performance. They have no pg play, and no bigs were establishing themselves inside. They were strictly jump shooting, and clearly that wasn’t even working.

Now, Gillespie was wearing a face guard, so I’m sure that affected his play. Jay has his work cut out for him, and given his track record, you’d fully expect him to get them revved up soon. But last night they played a very ugly brand of basketball for the full 40 minutes. Just never got anything going.
