Many were just saying before the DePaul game how we need a big talent upgrade. Beating DePaul doesn't really change that IMO. I think Champ and Roberts would be bench players for some Big East teams. Dunn can score but he's a volume guy...which we clearly need this year but would be nice if he made 3's with regularity too. Caraher isn't the most athletic, so he's constantly guarded fairly easily and he needs to be wide open to make 3's some of the time but even that's no sure thing. Earlington has surprised me and I'm very confident anytime he gets the ball in the paint within a few feet. He's a great finisher even through contact...strong kid.

Obviously if Champ and Roberts were doing what they did in OOC I would be much more confident. But since conference play, they have mostly disappeared with a few exceptions. Steere also looks lost so who is our big man we can rely on? If it's not talent and it's just effort, then I expect to see the OOC versions of Roberts and Champ tonight. We will learn a lot about CMA tonight going either 1-4 or 2-3. The Mullin way would be to get blown out and go to 1-4 then like 1-7.

The outcome of tonight's game will tell you a lot about CMA? Isn't his history of success as a coach throughout his career good enough for you? Since you see so many flaws with players starting or getting serious minutes, you should be lobbying CMA for Big East coach of the the year. There are players on this team that are still a work in progress. That we can all see. I have seen enough of CMA to know that this man is a big time coach.

Not sure if this is every game or not but I was at the Depaul game and I saw Mrs.Anderson in a red blazer. She was close to the bench standing cheering on the team loudly. I don't remember at what point in the game this was at but everyone else around her was sitting. I don't recall any previous coaches wives doing this. Just shows the level of commitment they are putting into us.

Heck--the wives rarely came to CA for home games. CMA said that in hiring him you also got his Mrs. as part of the team when he was hired. Have spoken with Mrs. Anderson and she is a wonderful person and very involved in the game--knows her stuff.

Cragg on Twitter Q&A on Process of hiring CMA;

How many characters are allowed in a reply? This will take several replies ... that’s how strong I felt about Coach A as soon as we started talking on the phone! So impressive and so perfect for what I felt we needed - a coach who has successfully built a program. A teacher ..

2 - ... family first ... and strong mentor to kids, staff, colleagues and peers. That was all clear on first day of talking. As far as the “noise”. I deleted twitter. Go figure and stayed focus on the task with our University admin. It was a wild nine days - that is for sure.

3 - We could not be any more pleased with our partnership in building a program that will sustain long term success. Also! to see how our student-athletes have bought in and committed - is heartwarming. It is a process - we have a lot of work to do. Together!

Almost in spite of ourselves, we got the right guy. Of all the guys involved in that search - Cluess, Moser, Hurley, Odom, Jones, etc - I'll take Anderson over all of them every time.

Most of the wives started out by coming to games, but as the fans turned on their husbands, they couldn't bear to take it (understandable, IMO).

Mrs. Carnesecca never did come to the games. I believe she once said that she preferred listening to the game at home, on the radio. She felt more free to move around when nervous.

I believe that Anderson absolutely is the right guy and it's going to take a couple of years to get things rolling consistently.

As far as Cragg goes: I still cannot get over the fact that he offered Porter Freakin' Moser the job when Anderson was available. That alone makes me nervous about him. Oh, and jacking up the season ticket prices in year 1 of a major rebuild.

But CMA, I'm all aboard.
