Is anyone else finding the NBA Summer league announcers annoying? I've watched parts of 5 games since Friday & over & over while players are playing on the court the announcers are talking about "other" related NBA draft news, trades, signings, etc. There could be a good play offensively or on defense & it's barely mentioned by the announcers.

Did you ever think there was a reason that in crunch time of the Big East season when bids are earned, not one if our guys stepped it up at the end of the regular season, the BET, or the play in game in Dayton. At the end of the day, not a single guy on our roster distinguished himself in that time frame.

What we are seeing is mostly reality, that our kids were not the cream of the crop, and our squad wss overrated.

Put that on staff. How many times do we see 3* kids against us playing like McDonald's All-Americans? They get coached up. Would another staff be so understanding of Ponds being out of shape?

Our team was very talented, it just lacked respectable size. I would say it had more to do with the coaching than the team being overrated.

Coaching doesn't cause you to miss the wide open looks that Clark, Simon, Heron, and Ponds missed. It doesn't cause you to go 0-12 in an NCAA game, as HEron did, and Clark wasn't far behind.

You can blame coaching for allowing Ponds to launch 25-30 foot shots simply because the defense gave it to him, or directing him not to drive on 3 guys, as he did again and again once defenses realized no one could score except Ponds. But poor shot selection and better court instincts are on the player.

Guards don't make the NBA by playing very well in 1/4 of his teams games. They end up playing overseas.

Last season is over. Old staff gone. New staff in place. Let's see what develops.

Partly agree. Ponds, Heron and Figueroa were legit D1 starters. Everyone else would have been a 6th or 7th man on most other Big East teams. The staff composition was terrible. Not one coach with any experience in the bunch and the lack of dedication was inexcusable. The recruiting of reclamation projects like Keita and others was due to us having a one recruiter model. Not ONE player was truly developed by Mullin or Richmond. The experiment, as many predicted, was a failure.

The whole narrative that Simon and Clark aren’t starters or playing prominent minutes on other BE teams is stupid. What level of player do you think the 4th and 5th starter on other teams is?

Kind of hard to argue that a guy who was voted Big East defensive player of the year and is also getting significant playing time in the NBA summer league isn't a starter on most Big East teams.
