Wish all three of them (Shamorie, Justin & Marvin) nothing but the best. Hope to read about their professional success, just like we read about Dangelo, Amir, Dom, Phil G. etc. They are all Johnnies who made us proud with the way they represented the university.

It was widely known on campus that Ponds spent more time at McDonalds than in the gym. Good luck in Europe!

Simon is insane or getting very bad advice. He is definitely not getting drafted and another year in college could only help him. Hope he gets a degree because he is going to need it.

“Another year in college could only help him.” Why? Did it help Shamorie or Mustapha? Sometimes you are what you are and another year or two is not going to change that. Simon is on target to get his degree in May. He is looking to earn money now, and if it’s overseas then so be it. If he stays another year his position is not going to be any different and that is one less year of earning power.

I love Ponds, but I was killed for suggesting he's immature and didn't have it between the ears and now it seems accepted. He will go down as one of the greatest players we've ever had and I'm so pumped he came here, but it's sad he allowed so many things to distract him. I really think if he followed a strict schedule and stayed off social media with more maturity that he would be a top 20 type pick. He has the raw skill that was god given but IMO he never maximized his potential. I wish him the best wherever he ends up. I want players here that are 110% invested in the program like Harrison. D'Lo literally ate, slept, and breathed SJ hoops and he still does overseas. Need more guys with that killer instinct that are never satisfied and never take games off.

I personally don’t think he’ll be drafted but these guys have him going 29 which is by far his highest ranking I’ve seen

Agree with you, I never thought he would be drafted. Nothing happened in the last year to change my mind. I don't blame the kid for wanting to start earning money, I just believe it will be overseas.

That’s a ridiculous statement. If you don’t think another year on the court with an ACTUAL coach could help him get drafted or a better contract your out of your mind. I could careless what job he gets with his degree. I’m strictly talking basketball wise and him leaving early is just plain stupid.

He's not leaving early. He turns 23 next month. He can get excellent coaching while earning money. He made a wise decision. I wish him well.

We all have our opinion or two cents should I say and I believe Simon would be far better suited to return and play for another season in an offence and defence which would highlight his skills , while working on a masters degree in his chosen field. The additional degree over the next 40 or more working years will far outweigh what he will get paid in Europe or wherever he plays next season, let alone the additional good will he would build up with SJU Alumni.
Whatever his decision I wish him the best.
