I would love to see Ponds and Heron leave after this year because it would probably mean that we had a very good season. A successful season would help our recruiting going forward. This would show that we can get players to the next level, which is what they all aspire to.
We talk on here about staff needing to see the big picture and recruit better. Winning makes recruiting a lot easier. So let's just keep rooting for our team, pray they are successful, and the rest will take care of itself.

Heron has not looked like a first round pick in this year's NBA draft
He should come back next year and "be the man" to improve his draft stock IMO

Which is why the Georgetown game made me so sick. I was thinking this year we got more talent coming in this year, it has to be different then all of the past years, and we'll be doing really good things this year.
Then Georgetown comes in at 2-4, and I'm thinking ok we'll get to 500 before going on that tough trip. Then we took a crap and lost to freaking G-Town??????
I'll admit after that game I'm thinking yeah we're done, just another year of the same old bs. I'm like nah wtf would a 5* like Precious want to come to this?
Go to Duke and lose by 30, but hey crap happens sometimes. They win the 2 more important game (conf games), both being on the road, that showed me these kids have fight in them still. Showed that they want to make a different ending this year. Lets go get 6 straight, screw settling for 5 out of 6. Gotta beat Pc and Butler at home, Vs. Nova - we beat them last year @ Nova and had them again @ Nova before choking that away, @ PC - see what Georgetown did @PC last night.. SHU comes to MSG, we won at their place before that POS Stephens took it away, then X comes in. I'd love to see 11-5 after this stretch, and that would put Precious on notice(SJU won 8 straight conf games, maybe mullin and staff actually know what they're doing)
We gotta get to the ncaa and make it to the 2nd week before even thinking that Precious would come here, but if he did that would make the 19 class 1000% great, even him alone would.

Don't think it's "negative" but certainly alarming. Other fanbases know how thin we are and want to take advantage. That being said, I really hope Heron stays one more year so we can pair him with Mack, Williams, and Wright. Keita, Steere, and Manuel should at worst balance us with bigger teams and take their height advantage away. Didn't realize but Manuel is a legitimate 6'10 and he has videos working a lot on back to basket moves which is nice to see. Plus we have Fig back which is massive. With Heron back, we may be able to sneak in the top 5 in conference and possibly compete for a bid. Looks like we may be much more of an inside-scoring team next year.

Heron and Ponds leaving will help us if they are going to the NBA, not if they bolt for Europe.

Does anyone have any idea what kind of contract Ponds could immediately attract if he chooses to play overseas? Do you generally have to prove your value over some time to make serious money? Don't know too much about the Euro scene.

Agree panther2. Winning generates excitement, ‘proves’ relevancy, and attracts top recruits.
And winning big in NYC heightens the positive impact.
Let’s dig down and sweep our remaining home games, plus grab a ‘road’ win...(or being greedy, 2).

Reading all these posts one can come to a sense or feel or vision, here’s mine:

We’ve had up and mainly down years
FOR DECADES.
This is one of our best teams right here and now with a good opportunity to play through March right here and now.
And next year bodes well as both our play and recruiting are on the upswing - (yeah I know for some NO CREDIT goes to Coach Mullin).
So I’ll enjoy this day, this week, this Providence game. I know in my ( yes Hamlet was a Johnnies’ fan lol) heart of hearts we’ll accumulate at least 3-4 more Ws ( I’m not greedy) putting us over 20 and in the top half of the BE.
The NCAAs will come a calling...but for now...beat the hell out of The Friars!
all the best

Sorry for duplicate...maybe it’s the basketball gods telling me we will reach the 20/ NCAA twin kill.

SS&G, having one too many??

Ponds wanted to leave after last year; he's gone drafted on not, I personally think if he is not drafted, then he gets an NBA invite anyway and makes a team, he is too good not to.

A poor man's Kemba Walker.

I'm just keeping it real dude. I'm not saying is likely or will ever happen. But if you don't consider the worst case scenario, you'll probably have an emotional breakdown on this board if it does occur.

And I'm one of the more optimistic people here :) :)
