I would prefer to see more of Europe and S. America there (i.e. Holland, Italy, Ireland, Greece, Chile…)

Africa has fared very badly: Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Nigeria, Senegal all out. Ditto middle east: Iran and S. Arabia. Australia, S. Korea done. At least Japan progressed.

Looks bad for the US when Costa Rica and Panama did so poorly. Only Mexico came through for CONCACAF…

There’s a lot of teams just making up numbers and it will be worse in 2026 when there are 48 countries.

Some good matchups now we are down to 16. Croatia have really impressed me… but this thing is wide open.

I'm into Bruges, moules and frites and DeBruyner who my wife thinks is cuter than Prince Harry.:cheer: ;)

My picks in (brackets):

Uruguay-Portugal (Portugal)
France-Argentina (France)
Brazil-Mexico (Brazil)
Belgium-Japan (Belgium)
Spain-Russia (Spain)
Croatia-Denmark (Croatia)
Sweden-Switzerland (Swiss)
Colombia-England (Colombia)

I could see any one of these going the other way though... :)

Which matchup are you guys looking forward to most next round ?

I'm rooting for Argentina and Nathalie is rooting for France so it could get ugly down here :)

I'm pretty much rooting for all South American teams and Mexico and hoping Mexico beats Brazil

Uruguay I hate Real and two of my friends are HUGE Barca supporters.
Argentina See above Barca reference and despite Tolliso I can't bring myself to root for the frenchies
Brazil. After that first round loss I can't root for el Tri and their goalie gives me the creeps.
Belgium. I know my wife will be watching this because of Prince Harry.
Spain I hate Real but the ruskies are toast.
Denmark Defense, defense, defense.
Sweden In what could be the most boring match of the round.
Columbia They have the best unis in the tourny.
