Agree, just have "St. John's" on the baseline. We are not New York's team simply by saying we are. We have to earn it.

Would you feel the same way if 'Cuse beat us to it?

Syracuse already beat us to it. We didn't like it when they proclaimed it. SJU is physically in nyc, unlike Syracuse or Conn., but we have no more right to claim "We are New York's Team," than DePaul can claim Chicago. Right now Loyola is Chicago's team. They earned it.

Exactly ... but unlike Syracuse, which is 250 miles from New York City, Loyola is actually in Chicago, hence its claim would make sense. However, I'm quite willing to concede that 'Cuse is Upstate New York's team ... but not NYC's team, as implied.

I don't believe Syracuse or UCONN magically becomes New York's team simply by proclamation or even by winning. When Syracuse or Uconn competed for national championships NYC did not become lit up with a sense of excitement or pride. They didn't elicit water cooler chatter or buzz on the subways, buses or streets. We didn't see a plethora of kids wearing their gear or bars tuning in to their games.

St John's, among those who follow college bball, does all of that when we win. My siblings, cousins, nieces and nephews follow st John's, maybe by extension because I went there, but more likely because we are located within city limits and have always gotten media coverage from local tv and newspapers.

We can envy their winning, but they will never be nyc's team because new Yorkers don't identify with either school the way they do with sju. All we have to do is win, and the love comes out.

Which is why me as a New Yorker first and UConn grad second have always been a St John's fan.

They should open up a small Modell's booth at the Arena. Would be great to see Chris do meet and greets before the games.

Would never happen. Can't see Mullin doing that.... plus doors at CA barely open 1 hour before games and would create bigger bottleneck in lobby. Hopefully he's getting team mentally ready at that point.

:-( my joke was missed. I was playing off of what Mike Z once said about wanting Mullin to go to different Modell's around the tri state area for meet and greets... Gotta come up with better material ¯\_(ツ)_/ ¯

Looks good except for one pet peeve of mine-absolutely hate volleyball lines on the basketball court. Hopefully they are not permanent lines and can be lifted off for hoop games. Some courts keep the lines on the court during hoop games and it gives off a minor league look as well as making things confusing.

Thanks for pointing out something I never noticed before - now that's all I see in the picture :)

Did volleyball play in Taffner or CA? If they played In CA in past years it means the lines are removable.

ATTENTION:

Major updates were made to the servers / software hosting redmen.com. There was also one significant change to the website this week to address keeping up with current standards and practices.

It has now become standard practice for all websites to be served as https (as opposed to the original http).

A couple of years ago I enabled https on the site as optional but as of today, the site is forcing https. Any link coming into the site should be automatically converted on the fly and you should not have to do anything on your end.

However if you do notice recent problems, please contact me directly via email: webmaster@redmen.com or via private message on the site.
