Any new buzz on Mustapha and his hardship waiver request?
Zach’s recent tweet on this poured some water on the more constructive comments by other pundits/journalists, like Bilas.
This is critical to us for many reasons: expectations for 2018-19 but also the positive buzz that would follow St. John’s into the Season.
I think a happy outcome would help our recruiting.
Que sera sera.
But wondering.

Doubt you will hear anything until late October or November is my sense.

Thanks Paultz.
Seems the 'time line' often gets extended on many major hopes in life--regardless of the 'category'.
Reminds me of an old Italian proverb my mom told me often, the translation of which approximates:
"Patience is saintly."

It's summer. You don't expect the NCAA to work? :)

Seriously, I had a conversation with some one at St. John's and that was their opinion.

Not doubting the accuracy of this assessment for a minute, but it is frankly mind boggling & inexcusable on the part of the NCAA, unless our beloved SJU or MH has failed to do their part in submitting required documentation. What is so complicated in an application like this that it should take 4-5 months to get a decision? We all know corruption is rampant and in the headlines in college basketball; you'd think the NCAA would want to take advantage of an opportunity to look like they are actually acting in the athlete/family's interest for once rather than adding to the family's stress. Just venting, but it is extremely frustrating.

You make great points NCJ. Early on, it was postulated that August/September was the time frame to expect a decision by the NCAA.
I do not know, but I can’t imagine either SJU or the Heron family would delay or fail to submit required documentation.
The buzz has been the opposite: that the Heron family’s case is well-documented.
So, that’d leave the NCAA as ‘on summer vacation’ and ho-humming this since it’s not a request from Duke. UNC, KY, or Kansas.
I still have a good feeling about this since the ‘timing’ seems opportune with the NCAA itself close to easing transfer requirements otherwise, the rising chorus of pundits and players calling for change, and the clear case of ‘hardship’ the Heron Family’s documentation is said to prove.

Personally, I think part of the reason behind the delay is to dissuade others from seeking the waiver.

Just inexcusable in my view. It adds unnecessary stress for Mustapha & his family for obvious reasons, not to mention stress it puts on staff having to plan for two radically different rotation scenarios right up to season's start.

You got it MJM, but we've been dealing with that for 20 years!

ATTENTION:

Major updates were made to the servers / software hosting redmen.com. There was also one significant change to the website this week to address keeping up with current standards and practices.

It has now become standard practice for all websites to be served as https (as opposed to the original http).

A couple of years ago I enabled https on the site as optional but as of today, the site is forcing https. Any link coming into the site should be automatically converted on the fly and you should not have to do anything on your end.

However if you do notice recent problems, please contact me directly via email: webmaster@redmen.com or via private message on the site.
