I normally go to Vegas for March Madness every year. No need to jackass all the way out there now. I will just go take the short ride down to AC.

Hmmmmmm. Wonder what this does for Atlantic City from a real estate perspective. They got hit pretty hard. Is airbnb legal there ?

Jersey has been pursuing this for years with the goal of putting sports books in AC casinos. Can't hurt. Not sure how much it will help, especially if a bunch of other states in the NE follow suit with their own versions.

It will eventually be a big draw at Resorts/Aqueduct Racetrack Casino in Queens. The bookies in Howard Beach are pissed!!!

I am not well read on this topic...

I presume this allows for college sports betting, correct?

Does this open to door to wagers via your phone? i.e. if you are in NY State, and a legal NY State casino sets up a web operation, would mobile phone betting would be allowed?

College sports will be included. It will take some time to set up a mobile app, but that is coming.

My question: will there be one source for the lines, or will each state set their own lines? If the latter, a bettor could get St. John’s at -5 in NY, and -7 in IL. He could then play both...and pocket money.

Or, since the states take is based on the total pool (amount played) , what prevents one state from undercutting others by enticing bettors with better odds?

Sounds like someone could jump in and declare themselves the regulatory body and make billions, all while employing selective enforcement. But since the NCAA is already busy, maybe one of us could take the lead on this and make us all a ton of money.

Maybe Paul can eventually add another tab on redmen.com: Degenerate Gambling

I don't think it's going to work like that Porgyman. If you are a New Jersey resident and you set up an account with Caesars in AC and have a mobile account with them then you will get Caesars Entertainment odds. The odds in Vegas will be the same as every other Caesars owned casino.

ATTENTION:

Major updates were made to the servers / software hosting redmen.com. There was also one significant change to the website this week to address keeping up with current standards and practices.

It has now become standard practice for all websites to be served as https (as opposed to the original http).

A couple of years ago I enabled https on the site as optional but as of today, the site is forcing https. Any link coming into the site should be automatically converted on the fly and you should not have to do anything on your end.

However if you do notice recent problems, please contact me directly via email: webmaster@redmen.com or via private message on the site.

Also if you have forgotten your username and/or password here are two links to address that (the links only work if you are not currently logged in):
