When you lose a 6'9 player like Alibegovic some people panic. Who will now take that last second shot? Who will crash the boards? Should Yakwe leave, who by the way, is one of the greatest leapers in St. John's basketball history, who will be our experienced big coming off the bench?
On a serious note though we all better hope Shamorie Ponds returns next year because unless we sign a true impact player, the loss of Bashir, Lovett, Ponds and anyone else can impact our offensive capabilities. For fans conditioned to drama nothing is too farfetched with our program.
All characters and events depicted in this post are entirely fictitious. Any similarity to actual events or persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental.

I've never seem him play live, but from the videos he looks like a super athlete. I'm hopeful for him that he makes a full recovery. He seems to have good enough form on release that he'd be decent from the FT line. Let's all hope he makes a full recovery, even if he's only contributing in the 2019-2020 season.

Kid looks like an athletic, legit 6'8". That said, he is also painfully skinny.......listed at 185 lbs and looks it.

Let's hope he is averaging about seven Dairy Queen Blizzards a week. Can't play under the basket in the BE at 185 lbs.

Yes, the team’s makeup changes dramatically if Ponds leaves. Don’t think we can replace him for next year. But, assuming nobody else but Yakwe leaves, Simon, Clark, Owens, Dixon, Keita, Williams, Trimble, Roberts, Diakite comprise a group with talent and potential. And that excludes new recruits. Perhaps Griffin, dare I fantasize about JB?
The thing is, if Ponds leaves after a scintillating finish, buzz and interest may surround our program and that might attract some very good new talent to it.
Let’s go Johnnies.

Let us not forget the kid DIXSON can flat out play and shoot very well and can take guys off the dribble etc. He might even shoot better than Ponds. I love Ponds but he did have many games were he did not produce much. Only playing devil advocate but perhaps we would not lose as much as we think if Dixson's% was better and more consistent. Guess what am trying to say One man does not make the essence of a team,we would be fine and still stay on an upward project Williams will be very good also. I am more concerned if we do not get a center transfer or that problem would ne non existent if Jordan picks us

Dixon's freshman #'s in MAAC look good, but think it's only fair to see how he holds up to Big East play before locking him in as a stud and better shooter than Ponds.

Exactly, Ponds is a ton better than Dixon. Having seen Dixon a few times, a nice addition, that is clear.

But Dixon doesn’t have to be nice. He just has to be consistent shooting the ball. We already have two good penetrators with Simon and Ponds ( hopefully) we just need Dixon to be more consistent than Ahmed was. His numbers at Quinnipiac suggest that he is.

As I said, he will be a solid addition. I was just reacting to off kilter Ponds comparison.
