Edit: looks like the 3rd NY REN on GW

Weird, ranked # 158 nationally by 247; saw he committed to G-W on his twitter page, UCONN, URI, Dayton, others were recruiting him...

What kid is that?
A solid list of some 3*s, but mostly 4*s, and most ranked in Top 100, with a couple 5*s are on St. John's offer list on 247.
Some of those might be from CM's staff. Dunno.
But a great-looking list.

Yup, bad move by Louie for many reasons.

Bad move as in we could have had a legit shot at the NC with a team of
PG: Payton,
SG: Buchanan,
SF: Sealy,
C: Werdann,
PF: Williams

Diarra a 4* on 247 sports. Was first ranking I looked at so just assumed. Either way, looks like a good target for us and a Queens kid to boot.

Okay, 247 doesn't seem to have the St. John's offer on his page yet.

Here is the deal with those guards:
Louie rated Broadnax and Lewis AHEAD of Peyton. He ONLY sent LOI’s to the first two and held off sending it to Peyton. When Peyton called telling Lou that he was committing, he was told sorry we already got two written LOI’s leaving Peyton out in the cold during early signing period.
Broadnax never adjusted to the life style of NYC and Lewis was from Albany, NY and adjusted better. He actually started many games early in his career, but as it became apparent that he was not the answer, his minutes decreased and he transferred to VCU where he had a nice career including some NCAA’s.

I recall Peyton was steamed about being passed over and made denigrating remarks about Louie and/or the program over the years.
Curious how 'off' our rankings of the 3 choices were. I know that both Marcus Broadnax and Elander Lewis were higher ranked but that's still a big miss in talent evaluation.

Unless you have inside info have to disagree with your point of Lewis starting and his playing making it apparent he was not the answer. Lewis would start the game and no matter how he was playing would be lifted after 4-5 minutes of PT most often never to return to the game. Many thought it was maybe because Louie had promised him a starting spot and the reason despite starting he often played only those 4-5 minutes was because he had made it known he would be transferring at the end of the season. At least that is how I remember it. Perhaps 85 can add his 2 cents? ;) To stay on topic would we take both Diarra and Curbelo if they would even both want to come and with McGriff already hear have 3 point guards?
