Yes, second semester next year as long as he enrolls as a full time student second semester of this year like Jamal Branch did when he transferred here.

Unlike Branch he will probably have to pay his own way for a semester.

You are correct as Moose also pointed out on the Steere thread we have maxed out in scholarships (Redmanwest's asked if he transferred "somewhere").

Mike Feigenbaum transferred here in the early 80's when there were 15 scholarships instead of 13. He however was the 16th player so had to pay his own way while sitting out that year with Bob Kelly and Jeff Allen.

Larry Washington, another mid-year transfer in the early 80's sat out like Branch became eligible mid-way through the next year.

When Matt Burst transferred from UNC to St. John's mid-year of his freshman year, we also were maxed out on ships. He transferred in as a part-time student paying his own way and then received the full scholarship the next year. He had to sit out that whole year though due to his initial part-time student status.

That would make total sense if we were a power 5 team but we are St. Johns! we get no breaks.......

Herron was a big break for us... maybe it’s changing.

SLCCC web site
2018) - The No. 8 Salt Lake Community College men's basketball team is starting to find a groove.

Four games into the preseason, the Bruins are starting to click offensively, scoring points in bunches with a variety of players contributing to the team's success. That success was on display once again Tuesday, with Salt Lake earning an 81-67 victory over Western Wyoming Community College. The win lifts SLCC's record to 3-1 on the young season.

It was Western Wyoming who led early in the game, with WWCC holding a 22-18 lead after a three-point shot from Jaxon Barlow connected with 6:52 left in the first half. However, the Bruins closed the half out on a 17-5 run, punctuated by Jared Holman's three-point shot that gave Salt Lake its biggest lead of the opening period.

Salt Lake would stretch the lead to as much as 25 points, 67-42, when Cameron Mack hit a three-point shot midway through the second half. SLCC would control the rest of the way, never leading by less than ten points throughout the remainder of the game.

Josh Colon continued his strong start to the season for the Bruins, finishing with 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting to lead Salt Lake. Cameron Mack finished with 16 points, including hitting 4-of-7 three-point shots.

We reached out but he said he would never play for SJU because the chances of them qualifying for the tournament were so low.
