The 6-foot-10 rim protector, also from Finland, would meet a major need for the Red Storm with his ability to seal the rim shit and block off some of the driving lanes. He's not as polished as Amzil and will likely be a more realistic option for St. John's if Amzil's stock continues to soar.

With his mobility and physical build, Federiko is more of a traditional five man who can be a consistent presence on the boards and score at point blank.

Like Amzil, Federiko had a zoom session with the entire SJU staff on Thursday. Federiko and Amzil were initially headed to a prep school in Wayne, N.J. that involved former NBA player and Paterson, NJ native Tim Thomas. The plot folded when the program cancelled the season due to covid and financial concerns. It proved to be a blessing in disguise as both Finnish prospects landed at First Love, which has churned out numerous international and American Division 1 players.

Can you please clarify for us what "rim shit" is? My imagination is running a little wild right now.

It's when an opposing player puts up a weak shot at or near the rim and the defender swats it away while at the same time shouting "Get that weak shit out of here!". ;) :)

There is basically nothing to be found on the kid. It does seem like he has had a growth spurt. On the U16 roster for Finland he was 6'6". Interestingly he was still a center at 6'6". He was also last in minutes played during the Fiba U16.

Seems to be built like Akok Akok at UConn, another Sudanese-born player. Long with some skill. Dont know where he’s at skill-wise, but seems he’s only starting to be noticed. Also has an offer from Ok State. If he’s near 7-ft and can run the court like he does in the video, Mike Anderson can find good use for him. I’d love to add more height/size to the roster. Wish there was more info/video out there on him.

Some blogs identify FF as 21 Class player, others 22. He is a postgraduate player at his current school so could very well be 21 class member. Apparently staff is looking to add a front court guy to this year’s group, so he may be a players to keep an eye on. They paid a lot of attention to him in recent months also.

Federiko Federiko 2021 FIN C 6'9

Federiko is originally from South Sudan. He's currently playing club ball in Finland and plays national ball for the Finnish FIBA team. He appears to have some skills including a decent perimeter shot but I have no ideas what the level of competition is over there. His FIBA stats are hard to extrapolate because he's 19 and doesn't get a ton of minutes on that team.

Looks like he's headed to First Love Christian Academy in PA for a Post Grad year.
