I was reading 'Mike Anderson, St. John's basketball show interest in Arkansas native' on FanSided for iOS and I thought you might be interested in reading it too.

By Kevin Connelly

The St. John’s basketball team is showing interest in a Class of 2022 prospect that hails from Arkansas and has a rich background in the sport.

Mike Anderson may have left Arkansas for New York, but he always has his eye to talent in the deep south as the Red Storm are showing interest in an Arkansas native.

Class of 2022 forward Creed Williamson, the son of former Razorback Corliss Williamson, has been in contact with a handful of programs over the last couple of weeks and is starting to pick up steam as an underrated prospect in his class.

Along with St. John’s, other programs that have shown interest in the recruit are Arkansas, Missouri, Purdue, Michigan State, and Elon while he’s picked up offers from Oral Roberts and Arkansas Pine-Bluff.

No official offer has been made from Mike Anderson and his coaching staff, but it is definitely something to monitor going forward.

The 6-foot-8 forward stars at Little Rock Christian Academy and plays for the Joe Johnson Hawks on the AAU circuit.

Williamson also has been working out with his younger brother, Corliss Williamson Jr., a member of the Class of 2024.

Basketball runs deep in the Williamson family as Corliss Williamson Sr., nicknamed “Big Nasty”, starred with the Razorbacks from 1992-1995, winning the 1994 NCAA Tournament en route to being named as the Most Outstanding Player of the tournament.

The two-time SEC Player of the Year was the No. 13 overall pick of the Sacramento Kings in the 1995 NBA Draft and went on to play for four different franchises throughout his career before heading to the sidelines as a coach.

Williamson Sr. started as an assistant coach at Arkansas Baptist before being promoted to the head coach in 2009 and then moved to be the head coach at Central Arkansas in 2010.

In 2013 Williamson made the jump to the professional ranks and has since been an assistant coach with the Kings, Orlando Magic, and Phoenix Suns.

If St. John’s were to offers Creed Williamson, it would certainly be a tough get to Queens, but Mike Anderson hasn’t forgot his roots and where a whole batch of talent resides in the south.

If he's just half the player his dad was... he'd be a great get.

Would love to see his Dad Corliss (Big Nasty) at the Garden watching Creed play for SJU a couple of years from now!

I still remember loving that final where Corliss led the Razorbacks over the Dukies.
