P Simmons wrote: I see that Princeton is #1 on the list. How sweet it is, then, that this news just came up today:

The Department of Education has informed Princeton University that it is under investigation following the school president's declaration that racism was "embedded" in the institution.

President Christopher L. Eisgruber published an open letter earlier this month claiming that "[r]acism and the damage it does to people of color persist at Princeton" and that "racist assumptions" are "embedded in structures of the University itself."

According to a letter the Department of Education sent to Princeton that was obtained by the Washington Examiner, such an admission from Eisgruber raises concerns that Princeton has been receiving tens of millions of dollars of federal funds in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which declares that "no person in the United States shall, on the ground of race, color, or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance."

SJU may be #170, but at least we don't have an idiot for a president.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm pretty happy with NYU at 30 and Stanford at 6. B)

I do personally think Stanford and the University of Chicago get shafted every year simply because there isn't ivy on the walls, though.

As for the comment by the Princeton president, the racism at Ivy's is often perpetrated by students, who look at black students as less.qualified because of affirmative action. They see themselves as academically superior having run a gauntlet of perfect or near perfect SAT, ACT, and hs class ranking in a system that denies admission to some perfect 1600 math and verbal scores. Black students who would have gained admission on their own merits without the benefit of affirmative action particularly hate being questioned as less qualified. Of course we all may have encountered an ivy league student or grad who will be quick to publicize his ivy credentials, so this is not unexpected to have this sort of thing happen.

Not sure how this can be eradicated so long as affirmative action exists.
