You're absolutely right. It is an idiotic move to give 2 of your more productive players out when you are an unproductive team. There is no defense of the decision when it looks like rain most of the day tomorrow. Boone has too many of these questionable decisions.

I wonder if the rain tomorrow played into it.  Maybe Boone thinks it will be called, and he gets two days off for Judge.  But, I'm not sure if who plays and who doesn't is Boone's call anyway.  The batting order? Yes, but I wouldn't be shocked if this came from up above.  Their MO is to show you that they are never panicking.

Personally, I would have been OK with them saying before the year started, that they were going to give Judge one game off (or not starting) every week.  Shoot for 135 games, you may get more production from him, then you do if he plays 150.  But, they chose not to go that route.

BTW, Ohtani's ERA went from 2.58 to 3.60 with that performance.

So Boone watches Chapman walk the bases loaded, has Luetge ready, and of course the only hitter left in the Angels lineup that can hurt you delivers a GRAND SLAM!

The Fire Boone chants then started. Yes, it's time.

Total meltdown and just a horrible job by Boone not getting Chapman out of there with the bases loaded and one out. We have seen this act too many times over the years, yet he doesn't react in time.

Oh, and the Yankees hit into 4 double plays, a couple at key times with a chance to addon, with RISP.

Why am I still watching this shit?

The line to get in?
The $14 dollar beers?
Cashless Yankee Stadium?
Two rain delays?
Non sticky chapman blowing it ?

In his last 13 outings, Chapman's season ERA has gone from 0.00 to 3.77.  OUCH!

Might be time to make Loaisiga a multi inning closer, at least until Britton comes back.

The worst thing happened to this team this year, might have been that 23-9 stretch that we had, which was clearly smoke and mirrors.  Because of that, we're probably going to finish with a not terrible overall record, which means we will pick somewhere from 11-20 in the draft, which means no playoffs, and still at risk of losing the draft pick if we go big in free agency.

I go to bed early - poor team and disappointing season - but still thought we had a W tonight
since watching the Yankees in the 1950 s as a boy - there have been ups and downs but no losses worse than this.
Times always change but it seems Mantle and his teammates would play through injuries and not take days off. And players needed PT jobs in the Winter to pay their bills and raise their families.
Why watch in 2021?  Same reason why I watched St. John’s for many crappy years.
scary though…
But this reminds me of 1965- when I went off to college and the great Yankees were entering a decade of badness. Dark seasons ahead.

I would be at an Army football game early September and hear what the team was doing and cringe. Good that Army teams were winning  and I was too busy as a cadet to spend time being an active Yankee fan.
poor teal 1965, poor team 2021

just need to enjoy games when I can, forget the score…Yankees going in the wrong direction, for sure.
finally

- there are more important things than worrying about a poor professional team.
Blessings to all of us and to America.

I'm going Saturday against the Mets.  Weather about to do a 180 degree turn over next couple of days.

But if last night is not rock bottom not sure what is.

When I went to bed last night I said to myself  that I would not be surprised if they restarted the game and the Yankees wound up blowing it.

Not surprised at all.

And this whole, resting your best players (who are actually contributing something) while you are barely treading water is ridiculous and screw the analytics on this.
