We may be getting to the point soon today, where Boone might want to just pull his team off the field.

As each inning goes by, we get more and more frustrated, while Boston's confidence continues to soar.  At some point, he has to realize that his team is getting nothing out of this.

I'll tell you what, for a bad defensive team, the Red Sox have made more then their share of great plays against us.  One to end each of the last two innings, including a bare-hand catch by the first baseman to get Torres to end the fourth.

Like I said in the last post, Boone should pull the team.  Nothing good comes out of playing the rest of this game, IMO.

As I said during the offseason, I like Brett Gardner but bringing him back was a mistake.  There is a strange love affair that the team and many fans have with Gardner and it has not served us well.

Now we're faced with a decision to waive him or live with a 38 year old who is hitting .198 with 2 HRs and an anemic .304 on-base-percentage.

Let's wish Gardner well and respectfully let him go.

Gardner only played one game in this series.  Ironically, it seems like we have a better record when he and/or Odor start (at least one of them, but usually both).  As bad as they are, they are lefties, and I wonder if that throws pitchers off a bit.  We may have to tolerate their presence in the lineup, because the all-righty lineup just looks too easy to pitch to, even if they are more talented.

That being said, Gardner appears to still have great heart and desire, just no ability any more.

The big mistake, IMO, was letting Didi go two offeseasons ago, then insisting that Torres could replace him at SS.  It took a lefty bat out of our lineup, and weakened us defensively up the middle, and it just seems to have destroyed Torres's confidence.  Worse, they want to show that they still have confidence in him, that they're still leaving him out there, and they may be destroying him, as a player in the process.

Worse, they did that to save money on the luxury tax next year with Chapman (picking up the option for Chapman next year gave him less AAV), but how valuable can Chapman be if we don't have a lead?  Sometimes, you can't look at it in dollars and cents.  It's what's best for the team that's important.

They need to sign one of the free agent shortstops this offseason, move Gleyber back to second base, and trade one of Urshela or Voit, preferably for pitching.  Then, you just move DJ to whichever corner spot opens up, and the other is still here.

The problem is that the two shortstops I really like are Baez and Seager, but I think they will re-sign with their current teams.  That leaves Story and Correa, neither one of which excites me giving big money for a lot of years to (short term?  of course).  But, that would still make us a better team then we are now.

I agree with you on Didi.  Only issue is that he misses a lot of time due to injury.

Yes, Gardner still has heart and hustles which is why everyone loves him.  That said......it's time.  This is a business and he is done.  I am sure we can find a young lefty to hit above .200

At this point, the Yankees are beyond pathetic.  Embarrassing for sure. Lethargic effort, starting on the mound. Really bad pitches by Cole. Yanks lost to a starter with a 6 ERA. This team never looks prepared. Again, that's the Manager. Too many guys playing out of position. Red Sux running on outfielders, infielders and catchers all weekend. Zero sense of urgency on this team. No true leader. It is time for a big change. Boone keeps saying they believe they are a great team. No clue.

I missed the game.   Can you elaborate on this?  Did something happen that would have endangered the players?   Was there a fight?

Anyone?

No, no fights.

Just a general point about the Red Sox being so up, and us being so down, that it was snowballing.

Oh.   So you just wanted them to walk off the field and forfeit?
