This entire team seems to have collectively lost the ability to hit the ball in the air.  It's been going on all season.  They are 3 lefties short in that lineup, at least.

Also, it's not why were losing this game, but someone needs to tell the HP umpire that not every pitch Nathan Eovaldi throws is automatically a strike.

Not a Montgomery fan, but he was a victim of some soft hits and shoddy defense. Some of which was his own. Team is so damn streaky at the plate, which results in so many holes in this lineup. Torres and Gardner have become unwatchable. How long before Sanchez is back striking out. And of course we have Stanton,  although I wish we didn't. Never understood why Yanks gave up on Eovaldi so quickly. He had a big chip on his shoulder when he faces the Yanks. Red Sux seem to consistently put the ball in play. Yanks are great at striking out, hitting into double plays, running the bases poorly, playing bad defense. And what the heck was Voit doing not coming up throwing home on the pop fly in foul territory? Too much bad baseball IQ for my liking. Starts at the top.

A other lost weekend and lost series. Team is just not good enough to beat good teams consistently.
Can't stand looking at Cora, that effing cheater. You know he loved throwing Ottavino a 3rd straight day and sticking in the Yankees faces.

This loss is a microcosm of the season.  Leave 5 guys on base in last two innings.

Cannot get a big hit and the run production is bad.

I thought they needed to take 2 out of 3 to realistically think they have a shot to overtake Bos and TB.

Now I just don't see it.

One of the reasons we've been leaving guys on base lately, is because it seems like we don't put them out there until two outs in the inning.  Yes, we left the bases loaded in the 8th, but we didn't put any of them on until there were two outs.  Hard to score runs that way.

Even good 2 out hitting teams (which we are not) generally put the runners on before 2 men are out.

I think we need to score first tomorrow.  That might not mean anything in the end, because Boston can come back, but the Sox have done a good job getting the jump on us in most of the games this year (especially these two games), and we've never really recovered from that.  So, while us scoring first may not mean much, them scoring first could be devestating.

game 76.
monty pitched well. the mlb gods were not kind to him.
4 infield singles lead to the first 3 runs plus
voit took 7 (seven) steps after catching foul ball to throw late to home plate plus
dj took 2 steps before throwing to first as a runner crossed home plate plus.
3 of boston's runs scored on sac flies. plus ball off #99's glove for a double.
but chiseled on the 2021 yankee tombstone will read ri(s)p and not rip.
as noted earlier, 5 left on base in last 2 innings.
it hurt seeing adam oh no get the last outs.
