Feeling like this series will become Tigers Part 2. The issue I have with Torres is the lack of baseball IQ in that moment. At least get your ass to 1B in the event it's not called a swing. He knew he did not foul the ball off, but chose to stand at the plate instead of hustling and perhaps making something of it.

But, if he was ruled not to have swung, it's ball four, and he gets first base anyway, so I don't understand what your point is.  And, if he does start running, that might be a tip off to the umpire that he did go (although he got rung up anyway, in this case).

Again, not running, had no impact on the game.  This was the rare time where that was the case.

Whatever. The optics on the play were bad to me.

That's not much of an argument, and it's also in the eye of the beholder (and I think you'd probably wouldn't be that upset about if Torres weren't something like 3 for his last 35).

Tangibly, it had no effect, and running hard might have eliminated any chance he had at getting the check swing call (which he didn't get anyway).

If you are refering to putting a runner on to give Chapman no room for error....

Where does he come up with this stuff?  Like I've said a number of times, this team is never winning a championship with him as Manager. He is absolutely horrible.

The Sanchise comes through again. MVP! MVP! MVP!   Don't follow close enough but can he make the All Star team if he keeps this up until voting closes? That would be something after his last few years and start to this season.

Tonight, I will get on Torres for his baserunning, but not for lack of hustle, just lack of smarts.

On that double play ball in the 8th inning, you can't keep running.  What you need to do is stop, and make the second baseman either flip to the shortstop for the force, or make the second baseman through to first, and have the first baseman then throw to the SS, to tag Torres.

Now, with the way that ball was hit, they might have been able to turn the double play anyway, but by letting himself get tagged for the out, Torres made it much easier for KC.

I honestly didn't like either option regarding the Santana AB in the ninth.  I think I might have thrown 2 pitches out of the strike zone to him, try to get him to chase, and if he doesn't, then I would have walked him.  But, I didn't see that situation ending in anything but disaster whichever way Boone went.

Now that being said, the team showed great resolve by coming back twice tonight.  Sanchez has been the catalyst, but Stanton is a close second right now.  Another line drive base hit to the opposite field late in the game for him (he did that Saturday too, to tie that game).  He's also walking a lot.  Those are the two things you usually see a lot of from him, when he is feeling good at the plate.

It also looks like Frazier may be getting hot.  He may just be one of those players you have to let play through his slumps.  Starting only 3 or 4 times a week does not appear to do him much good.

That's how I like my Yankees games: victorious and drama-free. Top 6 hitters were plenty. Nice job by Taillon.
