game 2. paxton went from the best pitcher in baseball for the second half of 2019 (peacock) to feather duster. he was getting 2 strikes on most batters, batters would foul off a few, then the batters would hit ropes. he just could not get that third strike or out. then came the march of the plan b bullpen and the nats greeted them rudely. the yankee outfield defense did not help the cause. relief pitcher king looks intriguing. he started off sharp then they wacked him. mvp favorite stanton hit yet another, wait for it, ballantine blast.
to clarify my opening assessment of cole's pitching, yes cole had better control than doctor fauci.

Can't believe the bone head play by Bonficio in the ninth inning, attempting to steal third trailing by a run. And no outs btw. I know he would have been safe if he didn't run off the base. Could have been Martinez call.

game 3. yanks win their biggest come from behind victory of 2020. against defending champs on the road.
bonifacio's running was tied for bonehead move of the day with the nat's manager taking out corbin after corbin gives up his first run. corbin owned the yanks. over a dozen times the yanks swung at and missed balls below their knees. and he gives the ball to one of the worse bullpens in baseball. he brings in doolittle who does less than little.
the baby bombers are back - mvp candidate gleyber and voit hit getty goners.
boone is showing his strategy to be 9 innings of hell. 4 offensive substitutions. 6 pitchers. calls for intentional walks. this will help with recruiting.

Paxton needs time to build up his arm strength and get his mechanics in line. he struggled in the 1st half last year with his velocity and he did the same on Saturday. He's an easy read. If his fastball is 92-94 in the first inning he's likely in for a rough day. If its 95-96, he's going to be tough to hit.

Collateral damage from the Marlins having players/coaches testing positive and just played the Phillies. Obviously that means Philly players may have been exposed to Covid. And of course they may expose Yankee players.

This is the domino effect and all it will take is a few morons in any of these sports and the whole thing could come crashing down.

Season over.

There was never any way to make this work outside of a bubble environment. Too many selfish people unwilling to toe the line in order to protect the season. Just takes one guy who goes out clubbing, or to a casino, or restaurant in the wrong place at the wrong time and his whole team gets exposed.

Maybe this gets Manfred fired. He's been a horrible commissioner.

If I were him I'd hit "pause" on the season and start working on plan B to have all teams play in a "bubble" in Arizona starting in September. I know they wanted to have the season play out on the original schedule so the TV rights for the post season weren't affected but seems that that ship has sailed.

MLB has its scheduled call with all 30 owners today at about 12:30 pm Eastern. That suddenly is a different call then it would have been 48 hours ago.

Last night I read 4 players and a few coaches were infect, well today.....

www.the-sun.com/news/1207057/nearly-half...ositive-coronavirus/

The COVID-19 outbreak, which has since affected 12 of the team's players and two coaches, may also affect the Philadelphia Phillies and the New York Yankees.

Aren't they the same team that had to have their facility shut in June? What's up with them?
