Happy to be pleasantly surprised, despite being way off with my prediction on what we needed to win!
On to what should be a great game 5, which is all we can ask for.

Everyone on that team should be motivated both to beat a team they clearly don't like and with an opportunity to play a team that knocked you out in two of the last 3 years in the ALCS.

I think we actually may have seen the last of Gary Sanchez this year regardless how far they go.

Well Montgomery showed up and pitched well. Nice job by him. Excellent relief pitching. On to Game 5.

boone brings chapman in with 2 outs none on in 8th to face a lefty -
allows chapman to get another "two" inning save

NY Post
Yankees legendary pitcher Whitey Ford died on Friday at the age of 91, the team announced.

“The Yankees are incredibly saddened to learn of the passing of Hall of Famer Whitey Ford. Whitey spent his entire 16-year career as a Yankee,” the statement read. “A 6x WS Champion and 10x All-Star, The Chairman of the Board was one of the best lefties to ever toe the rubber. He will be deeply missed”

Ford pitched on the Yankees between 1950-’67.

But then the ALCS is screwed and Cole can't pitch I think until Game 4.

Full transparency, I have never been a fan of Montgomery, so I don't see the Yanks winning tonight. The only way I see it is if they outslug the Rays. I believe Cole would go in game 5, leaving him to pitch game 3 of the ALCS. But I am getting way ahead of myself.

*Game 3 would be a second straight start of 3 days rest which is why most of the chatter has been anyone who pitches in Game 5 is likely gone until 4.

Did not realize the ALCS starts Sunday.

Chapman gives up another big post season home run. I knew that kid was going to take him deep. He got the timing down, and even if he threw him a slider, it would have hung. Poetic justice and sweet revenge for him.

Well that sucked. Bottom line is Rays are better. They have better starting pitching and they have a better bullpen. Significantly better bullpen. I just knew that at bat by Brousseu was going to end bad. All those foul balls you could tell he was getting a measurement of Chapman. Yankees can't beat good teans scoring 1 run. That is the bottom line. They scored 1 run on a blocked home run and put together very few scoring opportunities.

Yankees have essentially lost 2 straight series in the last at-bat by the opponent against Chapman.

Have no idea who to root for.

Had a bad feeling tied 1-1 and though late in game Chapman in early for him with Rays having last at bat which it turns out they didn't even need. Just proves money doesn't necessarily buy you a better team witness Rays and Marlins.
