Please throw something decent

How did he get 57 saves last year with a 1.96
and looks so bad this year with a 5.32 era this year?

Mets should put Lugo in the closer role, or is there a rule that Diaz can't lose his closer role?

Lugo has probably already been put in the closer role. He closed Game 2 of the Miami DH and Saturday night against Nats. He has some kind of partial tear in his arm similar, I believe to Tanaka. As he pitched two innings on Saturday he was not available on Sunday. So Diaz is no longer “locked” into that role.

Diaz has lost all confidence in his ability to pitch (his body language shows no confidence)--needs a sports shrink

I told my son, next time Diaz comes into the game we should walk over and sit behind the left field wall at Citifield . Almost certain to have a shot at a HR ball.

I think he’s given up a bomb in his last 4 appearances. That’s hard to do when you pitch one inning!

On the plus side Famiglia appears to be regaining the confidence and ball movement he had in 2015

This would be huge!

I am very pleased by the Mets recent performance. It has been a fun stretch. As we all know they have a very tough 15 game stretch coming up with 12 games against division leaders. If they can survive that then they finish the season with a much more reasonable 29 game stretch with 17 at home. There certainly have been a lot of woulda coulda shoulda moments this season so I hope we can at least hang in the wild card race for a little longer.

Just gotta go 500. On this 6 game trip. It's ok to lose 2 of 3 at Atlanta, just cannot get swept, then you gotta take atleast 2 of 3 at kc, or maybe swerp them, 3-3 road.trip is solid.
Then 9 game home stand vs clev, atl, and the cubs. Tough so would say go 5-4, but then you go wash, philly for a 6 game trip.
Thinking you gotta go atleast 6-3.on the home.stand.

Calloway with a very questionable move last night bringing Lugo in the 7th with Matz having thrown only 79 pitches. Borderline panic / over-managing move IMO. Anyway, it didn’t work to say the least.

Yeah, even as a Yankee fan watching, that was a rough move. And then Darling defending it was tough to listen to. Saying he didn’t want to second guess the move, yet Gary Apple questioned it immediately. Nice reward for Matz creating/kick starting the offense and pitching his @ss off...turn it over to that bullpen prematurely. Hopefully they get a win today, but they could have used the one last night.

Very glad the Mets made the move over the last few weeks and at least have generated some interest but in reality, they just give too many games away to be taken truly seriously. That doesn't mean I still won't be watching and rooting but..............................................

I haven’t seen anyone mention that Callaway also went too long with Lugo. Once he gave up the lead on multiple hits he needed to stop the bleeding. I get he doesn’t have great options but it was pretty clear Lugo did not have it. The mistake was highlighted when the Mets rallied. Too much to overcome.

Need to turn the page quickly.
