Manute and Chris were apparently pretty close.

Manute and Chris were apparently pretty close.

I met Manute Bol at a St. John's game at what was then named Alumni Hall in 1985. He came to the game with Chris' brother John, a teammate of his at the University of Bridgeport.

Chris and Manute were very close until Bol's death. Like others athletes we hear about, Bol "lost" most of his money from his playing days but unlike what we hear about others, his was spent on supporting humanitarian causes especially in the Sudan where he went back many times to help and offer aid.

After being seriously injured in a car accident, Chris and his TMC running mates raised money to support and pay his medical bills.

Getting back to the son, its early but Kansas has to be considered the favorite. But time will tell.

Thought I'd heard Mullin was godfather to one of Manute's kids.
