Well, this is good. More size, is said to have a mid range jay just like Jakarr did, and a Chicago native signing on might persuade phil to stay.

Think about it, the article says that Josh Cunningham is still open and that St. Johns could get back involved. If Lavin can bring in Delarosa, Marlon Jones, Cunningham and Thomas, with the Guards that we have, Lavin can put a good product on the floor next year. He really has to scramble to get something like this done but if he is the great recruiter that everyone says then he should be able to pull this off. Kids want playing time, and there's plenty of that here for all these guys.

Very true. But might be too late for Cunningham. I think I heard he only has one visit left to take and he's going to South Carolina. But boy would the Creighton fans be pissed if we swooped in and snatched up this kid. And who knows maybe this jones guy has a friendship with Cunningham, and that is one of the reasons we are going after him.

Not overly impressed but it's pleasing to see us going after a live body and not some diva that is scared to mix it up and go after rebounds. Sorely lacking the past 2 years.

Still puzzled/disappointed that we blew off last summer's recruiting cycle only to have to scrape the bottom of the ocean at this point of the year.

Problem is he is still the coach.
The same coach who had Hooper in the PC game at winning time.
The same coach who let Primo have the freedom of Larry Bird.
The same coach who started Felix and killed any ideas of red shirting him.
The same coach who is still looking for any out of bounds play to run successfully.
The same coach who let PGIV shoot like he was Reggie Miller.
The same coach who played Pointer 21.2 minutes per game.
The same coach who never attended the National Coaches "When to call a Time out Seminar".
We beat Syracuse again and it's almost October.

For a second, I thought we were recruiting the former (female) Olympic track star.

If Samspon attacked the rim and played with the same aggressiveness as this Marlon Jones seems to do (based solely on the youtube clip), he be a sure thing first rounder, IMO. I always thought we needed more lunch pail kids in our front court to mix it up down low and grab the tough rebounds. M Jones doesn't have the bulk that I would like a PF to have, nor is he as athletic as Sampson nor as long as Obekpa, but he looks like he could contribute. Beggars can't be choosers.
