Here's a name I stumbled upon this morning. I was reading the Rutgers site. They, too, are looking for a "big" transfer who can play immediately to replace CJ Gettys. Someone who posts frequently on the Rutgers site about BB recruiting mentioned Johnathan Nwankwo as a possible transfer. Turns out that the kid was allegedly a 4 star recruit coming out of high school from The Bronx, was at VCU for one year and transferred to Southern Idaho. Supposedly, he averaged around 10 points and 8 rebounds per game there this past season and shot close to 60% from the floor in limited minutes.

The Rutgers guy says Nwankwo is being followed by Rutgers, Pitt and VCU.

I don't remember ever hearing anything about this kid before this morning. Does anybody know anything about him?

You thinking of Ekwu from Hayes, now at Davidson?

Nwankwo went to Scanlan HS I believe.

Jonathan played two varsity seasons at Scanlon. He committed to Minny but never got there because of freshman eligibility concerns. Did a post grad year at Victory before VCU and then went the juco route. As a young player at Scanlon he was an athletic broad sholders guy who was a difference maker protecting the rim and rebounding but did not have much polish. Hard to know where his game is now since we're about 4 years removed from Scanlon days. Also I think there's an injury history there that may have taken some athleticism away

"In 18 games, he averaged 9.8 points and 7.7 rebounds while making 60.2 percent of his shots and 76.7 of his free throws. He suffered a season-ending knee injury in January."

We should at least kick the tires and investigate the knee a bit. Those are decent numbers.

would love a guy that dunks everything and can hit FTs when he inevitably gets fouled.
