Dad played PG at Portland. Coached me when I was younger. Jalen's older brother played football at Princeton. Solid family. Be cool to have him at SJU.

Boyz Just checking is Jalen's dad Adolphus (AD) Gafney who played at Molloy before college stops at Brooklyn and then Portland as you mentioned. AD was a small kid in terms of stature but played a tough physical style and made himself better thanks to terrific leadership skills. if Jalen's competitive heart and head for the game come close to his dad''s StJ sh0uld recruit him hard

Yes, Adolphus (AD) was my coach. No bigger than 5'11 but definitely passionate about the game. You are not wrong when you say we hope Jalen has the competitive heart like AD. Awesome family also.

Geez I feel old. like you mentioned Adolphus Gaffney was a typical tough NYC player. I remember hin at Molloy. Hopefully his son would consider the Johnnies.

From same AAU program as Lewis & Antoine and a more practical target in my opinion.

Absolutely, choosing our targets wisely e.g. 3/4 stars, JCs, transfers - more likely to sign a few. Our recruiting energy where it makes most sense - as others have posted - we can live without one and done 5 stars - for now at least. And 3/4 stars less likely to been seeking $ first and a college 2nd or 3rd.
