I actually thought he was a good dad who got more shit than he needed to simply because he is a loud black guy, but he's screwing up big time lately with the two younger ones with regard to school.

I thought I wrote a post saying that LaMelo will never play college ball, but I guess it didn't actually post....

...then two hours later this article appears :p

That's just your ultra liberalism showing but why jump off the bandwagon now? Guy is just misunderstood by the white privileged segment of society. Just ask some high school, AAU, UCLA and Laker coaches and administrators just how poor little ole Mr. Ball is just misunderstood. Oh and while your at it place a long distance call to China who can confirm that every questioned action is no biggie.

When all is said and done I bet he wound up costing Lonzo a bunch of money by not signing with major shoe company. Now I think he will wind up costing youngest son bunch of $ by lowering where he eventually goes in draft and blew the opportunity of middle son to get a quality education / experience and get to play at a place that by all accounts is over his talent level.

The younger 2 have signed with Lonzo's agent. Looking to head overseas and be on the same team.

I remember when I coached little league. There was always one parent who thought his child was the next Babe Ruth. I loved coaching the kids, it was some of the parents I couldn't tolerate.

Man, this is a tough one. I’ll admit I have a strong fondness for Lavar Ball. He’s like my father and I’m pretty confident if I was a five star NBA prospect like Lonzo and Lamelo my father would act somewhat similar. My father acted a fool when I graduated SJU so I’m pretty confident my father would brag about me intensely if I was being compared to a hall of famer like Jason Kidd.
When Lavarr decided to create his own shoe brand, I was so so supportive because I thought to myself “Here’s a strong black man sticking it to these big corporate shoe companies and telling them to screw off. In fact I purchased some BBB shirts ( $50 a piece), because I was so happy for him. I thought to myself he keeps his future wealth in the family and hopefully it would lead to younger athletes keeping and controlling their own image and monetary talent in house.

Now after saying all that, I can’t co-sign what he’s doing with the middle child Li Angelo Ball. Li Angelo is not going to the NBA. Li Angelo knows this, NBA scouts know this, NBA GM’s knows this and even Lavarr knows this ( he reportedly told this to Li Angelo already) so taking him out of UCLA wasn’t the smartest move in the world. Now if UCLA was giving him a hard time because of the stealing incident ( self inflicted of course) then I can see why you would take him out of UCLA. But why not put him at another university? Cam Newton father was in the same situation with his youngest son Caylin Newton. Auburn didn’t want to deal with another Newton family member so they avoided him like the plague. What did Cecil Newton do? He sent his kid to Howard University ( the only Tier one HBCU in the country) and it’s working out for him. Why couldn’t Lavarr do something similar. He’s allowing his emotions to get the better of him and that’s not good right now. Li Angelo needs to be in school getting that degree and become the family manager/agent.

When it comes to Lamelo, I have no problem with this. If the reports are true he’s already grown to 6’6 and he has a way better jump shot than Lonzo. College would probably be a waste for a talent like that so Europe would be better for him. But, Lavarr needs to change course with Li Angelo and tuck that pride in. Again, I love what he represents ( entrepreneurship, pride and the IDGAF attitude), so maybe I’m hoping for a better situation in the end for Li Angelo, but only 11 percent of us black folks go to Tier one universities ( contrary to the belief we are taking all the spots through affirmative action), it seems unwise for Lavarr to take away this great opportunity for him.
