We lost another great one last night. An incredible person, loved St Johns, & a heck of basketball player. Prayers to Glenn Williams family

This is freaking unbelievable. In Norm's first year, he held a well attended clinic for CYO coaches in the Brooklyn Queens Diocese. In the audience and a CYO coach presumably, was Glen Williams. Norm called him out to get some assistance on showing some fundamentals to the audience. Graciously, he volunteered to help Norm out.

Glen looked as fit and young as could be for someone his age and actually looked like he could step onto a court and play.

I always thought of Glen as our Keith (Jamaal) Wilkes, a silky smooth shooter and player who operated from the baseline with deadly accuracy. I guess he was a 2 for us, but also played the position like a small forward. 6'2 or a shy 6'3, I think he was one of our best players ever.

RIP

Does anyone know how LC recruited Glenn Williams from the USVI? (considering the farthest south Louie went in those days was Bay Ridge)

"Starting late and recruiting all summer with his aides, Kresse and Brian Mahoney, Carnesecca scouted the country. They brought in six players, including Weedock.

Along the way, still uncommitted, was Glenn WilHams, 6‐4, at Laurinburg, (N.C.) Institute, and he may wind up a front court starter and a star of the future.

“Glenn is from the Virgin Islands,” said Carnesecca. “He was recommended by Ralph Abraham and Dan Cornelius, who used to play here. They are now teaching down there. Williams is an outstanding prospect, good rebounder, shooter and plays defense. He is quite a catch.”
