I like Flores as a player. Duda is a free agent next year so let Flores play 1st next year if you aren't going to put him at 3rd.

I'd definitely like to see him play more at 3rd this year however if Reyes doesn't get going soon.

If they can't unjam the outfield, I'd like to see Conforto bring a first basemen's glove to spring training and play some there -there's a kid who may warrant 450 ABs

This we can agree on, he should be playing most everyday. Funny, Collins' reasoning for not playing him is it is all about winning now, except when it comes to the starting pitchers, then he reverts to the coddle crap.

They have an outfield that is getting paid an aggregate of $60 million this season. They aren't going to bench any of them for Conforto unless he completely tears it up. I know the paradox, but that's the business reality of baseball.

Conforto can't tear it up on the bench.

When you are 6 for 21, an ohfer 15, well within Conforto's ability, puts you at .167. As fans we fall in love with positive short term contributions. Is Conforto the guy with a Ted Williams eye at the plate, or the guy that waved at sliders in the dirt? Only time will tell if he is the real deal, but for now he will have to earn it, at least until the trading deadline if the Mets are sellers.

Well, we've already seen too many 0 for 15's from Granderson over the last few years. You keep saying Conforto has to earn it, I'd love to see your list of players who have earned PT from the bench. And then I would like to see your list of teams that developed their best prospects by burying them on that same bench. You bring them up, you play them, you especially don't bury them for a veteran well past his prime who has contributed very little for a very long time.

Let's not forget Conforto absolutely stunk it up last season and looked lost. He still has the label of great potential, but it remains to be seen if he can break through. The simple answer he must perform when given the chance, and earn his playing time, no different than any underclassmen on the SJU roster.

The simple answer is baseball is not basketball and no organization except the amateurish Mets bury a player of Conforto's ability, which they did last year when Conforto went into a slump after that genius Collins decided to let his first start versus a lefty be against Baumgartner. Instead of letting him work through it they decided to bounce him around all year.

100% right. And after that weak performance against Baumgarttner Conforto got few chances against lefties. Another brilliant move by Collins.

To add to the stupidity of the Met organization is my, and most Met fans, complaint from last year. By all accounts, Kevin Long convinced Daniel Murphy to change his approach at the plate and take him from a good hitter to a great one. Yet somehow the Mets had no idea what had happened and let him walk for relative peanuts. So we have to watch him terrorize the league but absolutely CARVE the Mets up. Lousy organization and we as fans are forever rationalizing why things never work out. They piss away great starting pitching with an inconsistent, one dimensional offense, put very few above average defenders on the field and have a manager who has no feel for how to manage a pitching staff. As a lifetime fan, it sucks.
hideously disgusting game today. I was so damn angry sitting in that misty rain and seeing Murphy play and knowing what we are paying Walker. Absolutely horrible

I could never "unbecome" a Mets fan, they are in my blood just like SJU is, but man I am so tired of the Alderson / Collins combo. Just the same old, same old. Every fan in the stands knew Wright was done at least a couple of years ago and the same for knowing we HAD to keep Murphy, by far the best "gamer" in the lineup.
plus hitting wise even before he tore is up in the playoffs he was always a great contact hitter. Btw that Nationals lineup is nasty and add him to it and damn.

But yeah it' totally sickening. Wright needs to take a medical retirement so we can move on as a franchise

And the worst thing is we got to the game as 3:30 fully not expecting to get the Harvey Garden Gnomes but friends of mine got there at 3 and all 6 got one each so I should've just gotten there a little earlier. I think the game was sold out but there were plenty of empty seats because of the weather

Not a big Harvey fan. You can have one of my Gnomes. The lineup is terrible. If you were hitting .200 like Walker you are one of the better players. Reyes is off to the worst start in Mets history and that is hard to do,

At least Grandy made a nice catch and how about that throw by Conforto to home even though the guy was safe

When Cespedes and Bruce aren't in the outfield our defense isn't terrible there, although Conforto misplayed one of the doubles yesterday. The infield is another story. Its ironic that we had to get rid of Daniel Murphy because of his defense and we now have one of the slowest and weakest defenses in the NL.

Also we now have the lowest ERA in the NL and the lowest batting average.

Before Lagares got a hit yesterday, we were 0-34 against left handed pitching. I am beyond frustrated. We didn't do anything to improve our bullpen in the offseason and if we had we would have at least two more wins. We need Cespedes back ASAP.

I rarely predict and am usually wrong but without meaning it as some weird psychic reversal thing, I do not see us contending this year. Too many holes on defense, no speed, too many brittle players, too much reliance on the long ball, we are going to waste away the great starting pitching and lose most of it eventually to FA. Hope I am wrong but..............

What's Reyes got left - 65 at bats? Collins said he had to give him at least 125 at bats. I wouldn't be surprised that down the line he's released, looks finished to me. Although, Wright was just put on the 60 day disabled list. As one poster suggested Rosario, who by the way is hot as a piston in Vegas, could be called up. And why not?
