Showtime special airing this month about Indiana U. Hoosiers and their perfect 32-0 season in 1976. Interesting take on Bobby Knight and his teams. He stressed the importance of defense and "Team" concept. Would love Mullin, staff and team would see this show.
Defense, defense, defense.

I believe that Knight coached one of the Olympics teams on which Mullin played. The story goes that Knight stopped practice one day to note the fact that Mullin had just played defense

Documentary was worth the time especially for those old enough to remember. You will also realize how much the world has changed since 1976 for better or worse.

Personally, I am always split on Bobby Knight. On one hand, certain guys (Scott May etc.) seem to credit him with developing them as people and players. On the other hand grabbing of players (physical intimidation) and the bully tactics could be over the top. He always demanded the respect, loyalty etc. of his players and coaches and yet did he show the same respect he demanded to others like his superiors at Indiana?

In the Holiday Festival that season SJU gave Indiana one of its toughest games. In the last moments of the game Frank Alegia penetrated and had a layup roll out that I think would have tied the game or put SJU ahead.

Seem to remember Alagia getting mugged by Quinn Buckner at half court -- no call by refs. Of course, this also coul have happened against Rutgers (another big MSG game that year).

Indiana game was George Johnson's coming out party. Ate up Kent Benson.
