Gottfried, Romar & Lavin were on same UCLA staff. All can recruit, but not very good bench coaches IMO. Archie Miller, an alum, is great choice, but Ohio State, if they can Matta, could court him as well.

NC State is tough job - Duke and Carolina are right next door and suck up all the oxygen. Only a very good coach with a big personality can compete with that - which shows you why Valvano was so great.

Is Matta, after all he's done there, really in danger of getting canned? If they do, Arch needs to be their first, last, and only candidate.

I guess ego would prevent it, but Gottfried would be a hell of an assistant for any program.
