Assuming Jay's children are out of the house Jay and wife could spend 5 mos in Philly and for 7 mod could live the good life in a plush NYC condo enjoying top restaurants, Broadway shows and access to all the entertainment at MSG every night and Philly is a 90 minute limo ride away. Take 10 million a year for five years and if things don't work out after 3 yrs take Dolan's money and go back to college.
As far as the Knicks go at least they have a young budding star and if they can draft another and if Jay can attract some talent perhaps they could show some progress.
I know Jay and his wife are from Philly and it might be tough to leave but I just finished telling the facts to my wife and we are twenty years older than the Wrights and she would be packing tonight.

I don't think it's about the money or nightlife with Jay Wright.

On the other hand, you just described Chris Mullin and his approach to the St. John's job.

"Mullin and wife could spend 5 mos in California and for 7 mos could live the good life in a plush NYC condo enjoying top restaurants, Broadway shows and access to all the entertainment at MSG every night and Cali is a 390 minute plane ride away. Take 2 million a year for six years and if things don't work out after 4 yrs take St. John's money and go back to retirement in California ."

At St. John's nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!

Our 3rd assistant gets more grief than any 3rd assistant anywhere. More than Norm Roberts got. Mostly misplaced if you ask me. Other than Louie, I can't name all the assistants on any other staff we have had. Including Lavin.

All those third assistants weren't paid over 400k a year

Perhaps dementia is setting in because I can name every assistant going back to Lapchick, including special advisors like Willis Reed and Al LoBalbo. :)

LoBalbo was actually the third assistant.

That could be an early warning sign, 72.

Actually I remember coach Lobalbo with great fondness. A true "teacher" of the game who, imo, knew more about coaching than Carnesecca. While at St. John's he was only a part-time coach whose duties were to work with the team on defense. I would say his role was similar to Willis Reed and Mitch Richmond today. He wasn't an assistant in the traditional sense and today, would have been classified more as an advisor.

Yes as he was usually only around during the season and he did not recruit, so you can say he was part time and I don't disagree. However, he did not hold the "Part-Time" Assistant position which was an actual title at one time while he was here.

He sure did know a lot of basketball and Bobby Knight always speaks very highly of him and says LoBalbo taught him a lot about defense.

LoBalbo also taught gene keady about hairstyles

Oh, Al's was much, much more complex -- one might even say Trumpian.
