St. John's has set up in-home visits with Scottie Lewis (Sunday), Jalen Gaffney (Sunday), Aidan Igiehon (Monday), and Kahlil Whitney (Tuesday), per source. #sjubb

That's encouraging. Hopefully tomorrow & Friday they will be beating the bushes for that grad transfer :) .

Heard today they are.

"They" is encouraging

Matt has a mouse in his pocket. :)

Grad transfer guards are a dime a dozen, so I assume we'd have more luck filling Trimble's spot.

Trimble was essentially Omari Lawrence 2.0. He showed up chubby and never really showed what he could do before leaving.

But it also hurts chemistry, continuity, and the way we've been recruiting, who says we can even get another player to replace him as good or better? It seems like even 3 stars are not interested. Maybe we can steal some 2* guys from Marist.

he did not play that much for a reason. Also because of that he would not upset chemistry. If he stays he would be no more than a bench player 7thnor 8th man coming off the bench JMO unless he has lost 15 lbs and has picked up quickness

I don’t blame Trimble for leaving. Greg Williams is already better and Mikey Dixon would cut into his minutes more. Even if we play the four guard lineup

1) Dixon
2) Ponds
3) Simon
4) Clark
5) Keita

Trimble wouldn’t even be the first guard coming in anymore.

I think Mullin has had it with all the prima donnas on the team. First Sima gets threatened by Zach Brown and leaves. Then LoVett pisses his girl panties worrying about getting hurt if he plays again before his tryouts with the Knicks and Lakers. Then Sidney Wilson thinks sitting a year at Uconn gets him a better deal only to see his better deal get fired. Then Tariq Owens jerks the coaches around and bolts for greener pastures in the dusty panhandle. Then Trimble cops an attitude.
Well maybe Mullin has had enough and is cleaning house and settling all St. John's family business. That's the optimistic Homer in me dreaming up a Hollywood ending to this nightmare. When I wake up tomorrow I hope to hear some good news.

At St. John's nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!

So, Trimble is leaving? His days seemed 'numbered to me, with GW coming in plus the many guards either on 'Matt's Radar or mentioned in these threads.
He was a limited player--but I am mixed about his leaving, because it further impairs continuity and adds to our reputation as a program unable to keep its players.
Not exactly a 'jolt in the arm' for PR.

Nobody has confirmed he's leaving. But if you think about it, he's already been recruited over with Williams and Dixon coming next year. With Ponds, Simon and Clark getting the bulk of the minutes at the 1,2,3, he was always going to be a bench player and starting in the future is uncertain. In this day and age of transfer extravaganza, unfortunately kids aren't willing to settle for a bench role. Would love to have him back, but could understand if he wants to leave.

He should bring Rice with him. If the kids don't say yes right away, Rice can fire basketballs at their heads. That should close the deal. I'm sure that's exactly who a kid wants to practice and play for.

When you google Mike Rice, the first 4 things that come up are "Mike Rice issues", "Mike Rice issues", "Mike Rice Rutgers", and "Mike Rice now". All related articles talk about his issues, rehabilitation, and desire to coach again. RN he is an AAU coach. He's done a lot to try to rehabilitate his image though, and probably learned his lesson.

Not sure I understand why everyone is so enamored with him. He was a successful low D1 coach, whose Rutgers teams did not improve one bit in seasons. Like many, once he played with the big boys, he didn't have the same sucess. We may be better off looking for a former successful HC who has no real desire to run a program again, but could be a valuable assistant.

Mike Dunlap, who was revered here as the real brains behind Lavin's initial success, is 48-75 at Loyola Marymount, 11-20 last season. Can't see him lasting long there unless they turn it around. Perhaps a return engagement when that happens? It may coincide with Slice coming off the books.

Rice is trying to reestablish his reputation. Will be on his best behavior. Highly regarded on AAU circuit. His players like him and respect him. Havnt heard about 1 incident lately .He will work his butt off and the price is right. Throw in his connections w highly rated recruits in NJ. Now also add to the fact that we only have 1 primary recruiter.
