Tea leaves say Femi visits soon & transfer goal could be a grad big, hopefully Femi, and two sit out transfers. Obviously that outcome will shape 19 recruiting. I too tire of being so transfer dependent, but, with one guy out there beating bushes, not sure what alternatives are. Hopefully if he lands sit out transfers, they are high quality. Simons & Clark come to mind.

With an interior guy like Femi added to the mix, I do believe there is a window of opportunity to “dance” but beyond that who knows. We just desperately need to have a winning, attention getting next season.

I thought we had a good shot with Coulibaly, any info in that regard?

May have cooled

Mullin, Mitch and Greg are just not hustlers. We need a guy on the staff that believes not only in the program but in himself. We need this guy:

Mitchell was a high 4* out of HS. Had a decent freshman season, averaging 17 mins a game, 3.7 pts/game, shot ~29% from 3pt land, 56% from 2pt range, a 1.6 A/TO ratio, 18 steals, but just 68% from the FT line.
Dunno why he’s leaving.
Recruiting sanctions rumors?

Old familiar name, Samir Doughty, transferred in from VCU last year (was signed to SJU at one point), is expected to play significant minutes next year for Auburn

People are assuming the reason we haven’t brought in another coach whether it be an X/O guy or recruiter (or both) is because of the obligations left on whatever deal that the school and Slice settled on. Well maybe it is because this is who the Coach has decided he is going to roll with and he is not looking to bring someone else regardless what his critics say he should do.

Bringing in someone else does not mean you have to pay a real high salary. If they want to bring someone else in, I am sure they could make it work.

Retired multi millionaires with NBA pensions an easily afford Manhattan Beach or Hermosa Beach AND have enough left over for a bachelor pad on the upper east side.

From Celeb Net Worth.com or something like that:

Mitch Richmond net worth: Mitch Richmond is an American retired professional basketball player who has a net worth of $20 million. ;)

I don’t know the reasons why he played just 17 minutes a game. Crowded guard picture? Injuries? He averaged just 29% from beyond the Arc, but hit 40%+ of those shorts last 2 years in HS.
He missed 30% of his senior HS season. Injuries? Don’t know.
But, according to 247 Sports, he was the 59th ranked player in the country coming out of HS.
And there are things to like in his ‘sub’ role this season: 56% rate from 2 point range, 1.6-1 A/TO ratio, and 18 steals in the year while averaging 17 minutes a game.

I don’t mind building this thing with transfers etc. Huggins did it yearly with new Jucos and transfers. That said, Huggins is massively consistent and a real winner. Building something consistent js very difficult, and we do also need to land some very good HS kids, not only transfers. Hope we can see a nice mix for next class.

The issue for us with transfers is that the roster was bare when Mullin took over and we had to rebuild with 2*/3*kids and transfers who had to sit out a year—further causing us to reach out to untraditonal ‘reach’ guys like LoVett, Williams, Brown, and guys who thought they were better than they were like Ellison and Sima and Owens—all of whom left, blew up (Brown), or are leaving.
Luckily, we have two transfers primed to come in next year, (and Diakite?) and Trimble, plus 3 good freshmen recruits.
But, with Tariq bailing, we’re in need of ideally 2 quality big men to provide that depth that could/would put us over the top for next season.
So now, as Paultzman indicates, to be faced with the possibility of landing 1 big grad transfer but 2 sit-1 transfers is frustrating as all hell, because it makes next season very possibly a good one—but, again, with little depth against injury or departure—or in these days of college hoops—‘whatever’.

You cannot simply dismiss that as "Oh we never get top 25 recruits anyway." That is a copout.

No doubt.
