Luv Abdul’s presence under the boards, 5.6 D-Rebs, 8.8 T-Rebs in 29 minutes? The guy seems to ‘eat’ rebounds and shoots 52% from 2-pt range. Let’s get him.

This morning I went through the list provided by Verbal Commits in search of this type of player. There were 33 names on the list. It appears there is more to Matt's job than meets the eye. K. Yawke was the highest rated player in terms of stars at 3.3. There are 10 players rated 3.0 stars or higher. Stars from high school are not necessarily an accurate measure of a transfer's potential contribution as popular Wyatt Walker and Femi Olujobi are both listed as 2*. The following transfers are listed as power forwards or centers, were rated as 3* coming out of high school, and are immediately eligible.

Name Current School Height Weight
Ellis Dozier Ohio 6-8 218
Played less then 4 mpg
Michael Finke Illinois 6-10 230
25 mpg 9.8ppg 4.6 rpg last seaso
Connor McDougal New Mexico 6-9 240
10 mpg 4 ppg 2 rpg
Josh Martin Cal Poly 6-8 212
20 mpg, 7.4 ppg 5rpg
Malik Martin South Florida 6-11 220
17.9 mpg 5.9 mpg 3.2 rpg
Tory Miller-Stewart Colorado 6-9 246
15.8 mpg 5.6 ppg 4.8 rpg
Mawdo Sallah Kansas State 6-8 225
7.7 mpg 1.9 mpg 1.8 rpd
Casey Schlatter Drake 6-10 220
14.2 mpg 3.2 mpg 1.9 rpg

Jacquil Taylor Purdue 6-10 240
6.4 mpg 1.9 rpg 1.4 ppg

Kassoum Yakwe Saint John's 6-7 210
11.8 mpg 2.2 rpg 2.1 ppg

Which ones should Matt call?

at this point as a grad transfer what they were ranked coming out of HS doesn't matter. Can you get their stats from last year for each guy by chance ?

If no one does this before I get back from some errands I will do it later.

Not sure who compiled this list and I apologize for bringing a name up twice but this name should also be added:
Abdul Lewis NJIT 6'10" 225

29 mpg 12.1 ppg 8.8 rpg

Thanks Andrew. Lewis’s #s seem to stand out . I’ll say it again, the guy seems to eat rebounds. Hoping we’re in on this guy.

Abdul Lewis was not listed on the Verbal Commit's Transfer list. Maybe NJIT did not give Abdul his release. Maybe the coach walked Abdul off the ledge. I don't know, but does not appear to be my mistake.

Risky signing IMO. Already dabbled with going pro so could bail on them after sitting out a year. Guess it depends on how many slots you have.

Once you've played even 1/2 a college season, HS ratings don't matter match. IMO you have to gauge statistics against the level of competition they are playing against. Height and weight are important, but so are athelticism and strength and basketball skills. Appears on here we salivate over 13 ppg and 11 rebounds per game, but if it's a 6'7" guy playing against 6'3 centers at D2, it doesn't matter much. I am confident our staff targets guys they believe will be assets at this level in the Big East, but in general, for me, i don't try to figure out who can and can't play based on videos or stats against what may be inferior competition. I think its preferable to target guys who played in major conferences and showed promise or put up numbers vs. top teams and players

Temple guard Ayan Nunez De Carvalho has his release and is transferring from the program, per a source.
