I think we win by double digits. Hopefully 7-1 going into that west coast trip. Not too worried about Grand Canyon, they are good but not on our level. ASU has some talent but I think we are better. Have to bring it against them from the jump.

Arizona St. just took it to Xavier today. Scored over 100 points. We can't sleep on them, by any means.

As far as UCF is concerned, I expect Fall to do his share of damage against us. Like it was mentioned here, he only goes about 25 minutes, so as long as no one else goes off for them, we should be OK.

Who are we to sleep on anybody let alone Arizona St.?

It's not who starts but who finishes. That said, I suggest coach Mullin find some old film of Ty Grant and have Marvin study them intently. Early in the season he is catching whatever Bashir suffers from in the decision making aspects of the game. Both are older players that have been getting emotionally rattled after 1 or 2 bad plays. Neither have been playing solid perimeter defense but both are better offensive options than Yakwe. If anyone starts in place of Clark it will be Owens but he tends to foul at the same pace. Hopefully next year Mullin uses Keita as a 5 and alternates Clark at the 3 and 4. Right now we have Ponds and Lovett bailing out our front line. I doubt we will have either next year so a rapid development of the front court is a priority. .......or, just recruit a solid starter.;)

Ponds quitting school after this year? Love him as a college player but 6'1 guards at the NBA level have too be extra special players and he may get there in another year or two.

How do you go to the last post that you read?

You don't. It takes hours. But that's the cost of progress I guess.

I'm trying to address what I can. A lot of effort has gone into this and a lot more effort than I anticipated to address things that I didn't see as a problem beforehand. A lot of those have been addressed but some things take longer and more resources.

Not that you took it as such but just want to make sure you know I wasn't taking a shot at you. Your efforts are very much appreciated and you provide a great service to all of us Johnnie fans. Just that I loved the old site just as it was.

ASU crushing Xavier, have scored over 90 points in six games. Talented guard oriented team that will give us fits in my opinion.

Then we should have no problem holding them under 200.

Mullin made the adjustments on the zone. He had yakwe & BA flash the elbows but Guards didn’t execute well. Really slowed us down hoisted up some poor shots. Missouri caught fire from 3. They hit 4 in a row 2 were tightly contested (bank shot/around a screen). Definitely need a lot of work on perimeter D. Let’s face it it’s gonna happen due Guards having to cheat and help on the boards. We could of won this game. But it is what is.

This team competes on both ends of the floor. We are light years ahead from where we were last year this time. It’s only November.

  • Great insight. After that play, Lovett was very tentative and backed away from his man repeatedly.

Section 110 wrote: Went to the game. imvho the turning point of the game was when the sju player rolled over the tiger. the tiger fans loudly booed on every one of the many replays of that play. perhaps the refs thought that the game was turning ugly & in a flash called sju for 3 quick nickel/dimer fouls. that took the aggressive, successful defense out of sju's arsenal. our short bench could not be called upon to continue the great defense. this teams defense minus the corner 3's is night & day over the last 2 seasons.

I also thought that the game changed when the refs started calling those ticky tack fouls. It took away our defensive intensity which had turned the game in our favor. Without depth on our roster, foul trouble will continue to be an issue for us.
