As an Indie website with a large viewership, Volunteers truly power redmen.com.

Over the years, redmen.com has had some special features for members provided to the community via the efforts of these volunteers.

Many thousands of hours of moderation, coding, design, editing and data entry have made this possible.

The Twentieth Anniversary Edition of redmen.com includes a revival of some of the features previously provided to the community. These have been completely re-coded since the original versions were all custom coded (going back to before Google even existed!) and needed to be modernized to work with modern coding standards and practices.

In light of that, we will roll these features out slowly and with the caveat to users to use them as "Beta" , as some of the data needs to be updated and there will definitely be some errors and omissions.

Some of these new and improved, fun features include interactive database and useful tools for fans:

  1. Players
  2. Venues
  3. Recruiting
  4. Opponents
  5. Schedules
  6. Restaurants
  7. Bars
  8. Hotels

This list is pretty basic and doesn't do justice to the labor that has gone into all of the little background processes and data that supports it. Interactive mapping is included with many of the features and we'll be expanding the site navigation to make everything more intuitive and easier to use. But consider a usage scenario like this:

You click through to a game on the schedule. From that game listing, you can click through to the the opponent and get a little idea about the school and series history. You also click through to the Venue that it is played at. On the venue page, is a handy little listing of "What's Nearby" There you find a great restaurant with a review by a respected member of the site (think Lobster Rolls and craft beer). What could be better than that? How about posting in the forum to say, Who's Going? then everyone meeting up at said restaurant before the game?
