There are a lot of good players here who just can't stay eligible. Or don't even bother going to school, much less playing.

McClymonds High School is in a rough neighborhood, so the kid is probably tough as nails.

I am more intrigued by him than Dickerson to be honest.

I'm more curious why we reached out. Doubt this kid would sit on the bench a year. Not saying he is any good, but most of these JUCOs want immediate PT. We'll see.

He's from Jamaica Queens and started his high school career at Christ the King (probably knows De la Rosa) and played for New Heights. Kenny Smith got him a full ride to Montclair Prep, a boarding school in Cali, and that school either closed stopped playing basketball so he went to Pelle's old school, Price. I'm sure Lavin is well connected there as well. He then wen to Texas to prep and gained eligibility late and enrolled at Murray State to take over for Canaan without ever visiting. A few weeks of central Kentucky was enough and he left for Juco. Well traveled kid! Four high schools in four years, but it looks like his hand was forced on one and he had a guardian angel helping him get to the other two. Three years of eligibility. Knowing that I am back on board :)

Play a year behind Jordan and Branch...I'm sure coach pitches that Jordan will be NBA bound...and get the keys to the car in 2015 in your hometown. McCaffrey likes him and offered recently after watching him play. There was a rumor earlier today that he committed but he denied it. Go get him, Coach :)

I know the saga well Marillac. My curiosity had more to do with our interest at this time. Doubt he would want to sit behind Branch and Jordan. Heard the same from someone familar with him. Not terribly important one way or the other.

Sorry, I was just doing my thinking on the keyboard. The more I learn about the kid, the more interested I become.

From our end, Lavin is probably thinking of replacing Harrison-Branch-Greene and possibly even Jordan in 2015 with a kid that could come on now and be ready to start when they depart. Even if Jordan stays in 2015, that would be a nice experienced back court to make the transition, and it gives us good scholarship balance.

From his end, we are a likely tournament team this year with the potential to go much further next year. It's also his home town and he could have a pretty clear path to start and get major minutes for two years if he can be patient and learn from some really good players his soph year. I'd be all for it.

I thought it was odd until I learned of the third year of eligibility. He only gets to leave after a year because he qualified out of prep unlike most JUCOs. I'd imagine most JUCOs would not want to play limited minutes with only two years, but three could change the game a little? In any event, I think he goes to Iowa. The fact that McCaffrey has been on him since Siena makes me even more interested.
